I had the best of best experience, Glynna and Les were Awesome. I made a fuel stop and due to weather I was thinking of spending the night. Glynna offered me a choice of the FBO with a car to get something to eat or hotel near by. I would have spent the night at the FBO nice clean place and quiet... I would have loved to spent time at the airport, full comfortable sits not like those at big airport. The weather cleared and I was up via runway 10 flying away and took a glance the airport to my 7 o'clock and enjoyed the sad departure. Thank you Glynna and Les.

My girlfriend and I came to visit in a Taylorcraft. We came for a long weekend of camping at the Cumberland Gap National Park. There was plenty to do, hiking trails, a cave tour, Sand Cave, waterfalls, overlooks and historic sites. The airport team (Glynna and Les) were extremely helpful. They helped us find a good car rental place for the weekend (Tri-State Rental), recommended places to camp, site-see, eat, and even offered to let us camp out in the FBO if the weather was too cold or if it rained. The FBO has a very clean shower/bathrooms and kitchen. The airport was very easy to land/depart. The nearby hills are no issue at all as there is a lot of flat space for a standard pattern. Les gave us both his and Glynna's cell phone number in case we needed anything. Overall a wonderful experience and we hope to visit again soon!

Great place for a 'different' landing and approach. Airport sits down in valley, surrounded by VA, TN, and KY mountains.... Really great place to visit. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful Mascot Manager. I shall return. We stopped here for credit in the 2012 KY Air Challenge, up from south of Knoxville area. Great flight, great stop.

I stopped here for overnight stay on May 16th. What a true pleasure. I had talked to Glynna and arranged for use of the courtesy car. I arrived 1/2 hr later than originally planned but Les, a great guy and local volunteer was waiting to meet me. And Glynna showed up just to make sure everything was good. It was great, great price, great people, and nice field. Only one complaint, the WiFi was out at the field the next day. I had to go down to the nearby MacD's (free WiFi) to flight plan, file and check weather. I stopped for refueling on my return trip on the 20th and will stop here every time I can.Response from John L. Brown, Attorney, Middlesboro Bell County Airport Board Thanks Mike for your kind words. We apologize for the Internet being out. We had a local Internet provider for the past few years and it became problematic, so we changed to AT&T. It took over 30 days to get operational, but today, we are back on line and have free wi-fi at 1A6. Hope you visit again soon.

If I could put ten stars here I would! Landed today to take a break from my photo mission and fuel up. There is no way to explain how nice everyone was. First, I met John, a local pilot who told me all about the airport and it's history. Also told me there was a car if I needed lunch. I wandered inside to use the facilities and met a teenager who was hanging out working on his RC helicopter. We talked about RC planes a little bit. Went back out and fueled up and then Middlesboro Airport Legend Les showed up. I had read about Les in the comments here and planned my fuel stop for Middlesboro just to meet him. He is a great guy and super cool dude! He offered the courtesy car, told me even more info about the airport, and basically acted as Middlesboro's tourism official. While talking with Les, Glenna showed up. Just as nice. I think I'll go back to Middlesboro and take the car out to see if I can find anyone in town in a bad mood.

Not enough room to write all the positives here! $4.43 for fuel? Just paid $7.18 last night at KLZU in Atlanta! Kids were hungry and Les showed us food in the clean kitchen. Facility was clean and well kept. Everyone was friendly- Les explained the fueling procedures to us. This may be a tricky place to land / take off in low visibility, so do your homework. Outstanding experience for my whole family. We will stop on our way back to OH.

Came on in late at night. Did not quite realize that the lights are not PCL, however was met as soon as I landed with an offer to help in fueling. I would recommend this place to anyone flying in this area.

Very nice stop on my cross-country flight. Was met and assisted by an extremely nice airport volunteer "Les." He set us up with the crew car and drew out a map of some places to go eat. I sure appreciate airports like this that hold down fuel prices and still provide wonderful service!!!!!!! Thank you for keeping General Aviation more affordable to the General public :)

Although the airport could be a bit tricky due to the hills around it, this is a nice stop. Les, a volunteer who lives on the field, welcomed us and even helped with the fueling.

Stayed the weekend to visit our son attending a local college. Was met by follow me who guided us to the pull through parking. Nice new terminal and good fuel prices. Glynna was very helpful not only with the airplane but with the local area. We look forward to going back. If you leave in IFR be sure to do your homework. Have a plan and know if your airplane can make the climb requirements.
