Stopped in on way home to Tn. from OSH. Unremarkable airport with a rather new-ish self serve setup that worked perfectly. Very good fuel price. The FBO is elderly and unmanned, but they have a charging station, restrooms, small lounge area, vending (I think) and a courtesy car. FBO doors accessible with code input. All the essentials for the average GA pilot passing thru. Added bonus, as this city is basically on state line, and South Bend and Notre Dame are only like 15 mi away. For those who have never been to that campus, it is indeed perhaps the prettiest campus in the country, and their little 'chapel' would be right at home in the Vatican. The city of Noles, only a couple of miles, is uncongested and has numerous food choices. All in all, a fine GA stop.

Great stop. Best fuel price around. New equipment. Call Joe at the city. He will fix you up with the car. We stayed at the Quality Inn and ate at the Prime Table. Good experience at both places. FREE tiedown. Bring your own ropes.

The airport manager, Joe Ray, met us on arrival. He had the courtesy car ready and pulled it around for us. He let us take it to South Bend for three days! He also allowed us to use the large hangar at no charge, which was perfect, because it snowed! Joe met us for our departure. It was too cold for the engine to start, so he located some extension cords for us to plug in the engine heater. We were shortly on our way, thanks to Joe and this great airport. Not to mention the great fuel price! This is now my "go to" airport in the South Bend - Michiana area! Thank you Joe Ray and the City of Niles!!
