Flew in on 9/13 for 2 nights. Airport staff was friendly enough, although they didn't go out of their way to help with parking or unloading airplane. No fuel. Parking fee of $16/night – OK I guess if it supports the airport. Nice facility. Great island destination.

Have always taken the ferry here in the past, this time we flew in. Rented a golf cart at the airport. $10 landing fee, $10 per hour for the cart. Had a great afternoon. This is the only way to come here.

Flew into Put in Bay on Mothers Day with the mother of my children. The $10 landing fee is still applicable. With the season just starting, the crowds were very light but I imagine it will be a circus in a few weeks. We walked from the airport to the Perry Monument and into town for lunch. Very pretty place and the walk was good exercise although the golf carts, buses and taxis are reasonably priced alternatives. Lots of birds on the runway but they seem amenable to yielding to aircraft. The Monument just off Runway 03 looks rather intimidating and should be avoided (the Monument not Runway 03).

No runway lights / no night ops; airport personnel say too many drunks on runway after dark. $10 to park and $16 overnight with no ropes / chocks seems a bit much. No sink in the restroom with a sign that says don't drink the water. You have to wonder if they had trouble with pilots drinking from the toilet. All jokes aside, nicely maintained paved areas and a fun destination.

08/16/06 Skyhawk-S had a fine day trip. Good food in town brought folding bikes saves time and money. Don't count on Unicom but use the windsock on top of the big hangar--not the one on the field. Friendly folks with mic fright? Parking $10. Should stay a few days. A great place to fly. Hope to return soon.

Nice place to visit. Plenty of things to do on the island. They have a few underground cave tours, a butterfly house, parasailing, good places to eat, and the feel of a small island community. Very pretty in the air. Runway is listed as 2900, but there are displaced thresholds on each side.

Flew in on 3 Jun 06 and experienced none of the chronic complaints listed by other flyers. Was prepared by taking my own tie down ropes, rented a golf cart for $10.00 at the field and was told by the FBO attendant that if I ran over on an hour by a few minutes, she would look the other way and not charge for it. Had a nice mid-day lunch in town and did a little hangar flying upon my return to the airport. All in all, an enjoyable day on the island. Getting there was more than half the fun. Can't wait to fly back up from my home base at KISZ.

My wife and flew in on May 20th and camped over at the state campground which is about 1/2 mile away. The airport is a nice facility. As noted there are NO chocks or tie down ropes so bring your own. There were golf carts available for rent but they are first come first serve so availability might be a problem in the busy times. The cab fare to anywhere on the island is only $3 per person and is much cheaper than getting a golf cart. The folks at the FBO are friendly and were happy to call a taxi for us. RWY 21 seems to be preferred and I noticed that there are some extremely strong updrafts as soon as you get above the tree line. Be aware that the surface winds on the field ARE NO WAY representative of the winds immediately above the tree line. Also noticed on departure that whoever was manning the Unicom was giving the WRONG runway preference for the prevailing winds. Remember this is our responsibility as pilots and that landing with a stiff tailwind is never a good idea.

We had nice overall experience with the FBO here. Because of the congestion created during a sunny Saturday, parking became a little more of a hassle than it needed to be. Because most of the parking is not on the traditional tie-down portion of the ramp, bring a couple sets of wheel chocks to keep the plane from moving on its own (especially for those of us with parking brakes that blead down after a while). That aside, the airport is in great shape and the golf cart rental is a great service.
