Flew into Put In Bay for a quick lunch. I had a great time. The whole island is about golf carts and bikes. Landed, grabbed a golf cart and headed into town for lunch at the boardwalk. Landing was $10. Golf cart was $25 for two hours, and lunch was $18 for a great lobster role and a diet coke. I was off again within 1.5 hours headed back home. Next time I will spend a night there with the wife and kids.

Flew into Put-In-Bay on June 26, 2009. Found this to be a great day trip to get away from the heat of the Midwest. Plenty of restaurants to choose from but we decided to go to subway and head out to one of many picnic areas along the shore for lunch. The landing fee/parking is $10.00 for the day, $15.00 if you stay overnight. Inside the FBO/terminal building is a counter with envelopes and pricing just above them. Put your money in the envelope and drop it in the slot. Taxi rides to the commercial district are $3.00 per person; it's an easy walk if the weather is good, guessing about a mile and half. Erie island Carts (419-285-5278) has golf carts for rent right from the field, you probably should call ahead to reserve one. They have a lot of aircraft parking but it seems to fill up quickly so I'd recommend bringing your own chocks and ropes. Chocks in case you don't get lucky enough to get a tie down.

Stayed for two days on P-I-B and again be aware the airport's levy didn't pass so it is unattended. We found everything locked up but they do post the taxi's number(s) so not a big issue. Parking is on hard surface but bring your ropes.

As of June 1st, the airport is still unattended. After landing, the golf cart lesser was kind enough to show us how to pay the landing and parking fees. Basically you put your money into an envelope, write your tail number on it, and put it in a slot. As mentioned earlier, bring your own tie down equipment. Put In Bay is a great area with good restaurants and nice people.

Visited South Bass for the first time today. Upon landing the taxi driver informed us the recent operating levy for the airport or port authority did not pass and the airport was open but unattended. The facilities are nice and clean- it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months. There is typically a landing fee but since nobody was there we simply signed the book at the FBO and went on our way. Plenty of space on the ramp but no fuel or tie-downs. Bring your own to be safe. The island was BEAUTIFUL and I highly recommend going during the week if possible to avoid the crowds. Perry Monument is a must-see and plenty of shops and restaurants. We ate at High Tide (pretty good) and the Crescent Tavern (EXCELLENT).

Stop in for a night from Niagara Falls to Wisconsin. $16 Landing/Parking fee was high for being the only plane on the field. That was a dollar and hour to park. Walked to the downtown area for the overnight stay. Nice place to visit. Wasn't that busy so it made it nice to get around and see the sights. Rented a bike at the hotel ($10 a day). One visit was enough for us.

Fantastic destination. Friendly woman in the terminal along with a nice tie-down area. Rented a golf-cart at the FBO, no problem. Didn't charge for the 20 minutes we ran over. Lots of fun. Recommend staying overnight so you can enjoy an adult beverage or two in town.

Flew in on a Sunday afternoon - friendly service and a biplane ride in a Waco if you're so inclined. If they are available, I recommend renting golf carts at the FBO - you'll save money over taking a taxi downtown and renting down there. Unfortunately, the island doesn't have much in the way of a swimming beach, so not as refreshing as I had hoped on a Sunday afternoon. Keep your eyes out and start listening to Unicom about 20-30 miles out - there's a lot of busy traffic out there on a nice day!

No fuel, no bathroom just a person who can call a cab for you and take your parking money. Even with that said is still a gateway to a really fun place.

Flew in on 9/13 for 2 nights. Airport staff was friendly enough, although they didn't go out of their way to help with parking or unloading airplane. No fuel. Parking fee of $16/night – OK I guess if it supports the airport. Nice facility. Great island destination.

Have always taken the ferry here in the past, this time we flew in. Rented a golf cart at the airport. $10 landing fee, $10 per hour for the cart. Had a great afternoon. This is the only way to come here.

Flew into Put in Bay on Mothers Day with the mother of my children. The $10 landing fee is still applicable. With the season just starting, the crowds were very light but I imagine it will be a circus in a few weeks. We walked from the airport to the Perry Monument and into town for lunch. Very pretty place and the walk was good exercise although the golf carts, buses and taxis are reasonably priced alternatives. Lots of birds on the runway but they seem amenable to yielding to aircraft. The Monument just off Runway 03 looks rather intimidating and should be avoided (the Monument not Runway 03).
