Recently I also had the pleasure of dealing with Roger and Wayne at Lightning Aviation. While on an extended say in the area, I had a mechanical problem and I can truly say that they went above and well beyond what one would normally expect in their help and assistance to me as the problem was resolved. Would that other FBO's would make an effort such as they did. Whether it's just for a tank of fuel or some involved maintenance, these guys will take care of you with a smile on their face and the conduct of gentlemen.

I have been into Foley numerous times over the last few years and must tell you Lightning Aviation is really on top of it. I had some alternator issues and Rodger and Wayne were so very helpful. Line folks were very attentive and it is so easy to fly in and out of. They are busy there so that is an obvious sign they are doing business the right way. BTW, if you need a great deal on a Car Rental, a hidden gem on the Coast is 4 Lane Car Rental at 251-943-9033 for $19 a day (100 mile max) on an older but reliable car and they will have the car waiting on you at the airport.

Good place to stop. Lamberts will send a shuttle and take you in through the back of the restaurant to avoid any lines. New owner has been updating FBO.

5R4 is almost hidden in the midst of high-dollar airports in the Mobile area, but it is worth checking out if you fly a single or a light twin. The gas price is reasonable (especially compared others in the area) rental cars are available, and the staff is very service oriented. The only knock, if it is a knock, on 5R4 is its runway. Its markings are almost entirely worn off, and it can be disconcerting when you first drop out of the clouds on an approach. Overall, however, this is a good stop for cross country or a visit to the nearby beaches.

Arrived on the 4th, departed the 6th. Rental car was ready when we arrived. Plane was fueled when we returned to leave. Staff very helpful and removed tie-downs while we loaded our stuff and seafood. ATC was ready with our clearance as we climbed out VMC. This airport is closer to the outlet mall than Jack Edwards.

Refueled prior to our overnight at Dolphin Island.. The service was great, the people were more than accommodating, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. We will be back!

Excellent service, low fuel price, courtesy and rental cars, friendly personnel, 9 miles from beach. Excellent choice if going to the beach.

Great experience with this FBO. Friendly personnel. Loaned us a car and recommended a great local place to eat. Fueled up and took care of the plane. Borrowing the line from "The Terminator"....."I'll be back".

Absolute top notch experience from friendly staff. Fuel prices are bottom dollar and the location is just close enough not to be a pain. Will definitely pass the word along to anyone thinking about flying into the Gulf Shores area.

What a great find, cheap fuel, 9miles from the beach, why go anywhere else. Lent me a car to get something to eat. Will have a crew car soon, rental cars available. Try these guys out.
