First trip back to Ocean Isle since before the renovations and what a pleasant surprise. Bill at the FBO connected us with Chris Schmidt, whose gorgeous new RV-9A is based there. Chris arranged for transportation for our group of 16 flyers from Raleigh (EAA 1114) and we enjoyed lunch and hangar flying at Sharkeys. Refueling was easy with the self-service, and prices were low. Can't wait to go back!

What a difference one year can make! This is my third year visiting 60J for a few days at the beach. The new FBO building is complete, the new runway is in place, and the ramp is really looking good. It is nice to see the airport breathing life again into this community. A couple individuals took it upon themselves to make this airport user friendly. They have their own rental cars if you call ahead, provided a hangar for my aircraft for the duration and were friendly to boot! They have a flight school; the FBO offers clothing and pilot supplies. All they need now is an instrument approach. I have gone to Myrtle Beach, Grand Strand and here...I like this place the best. Stop in and visit, you will not be disappointed...

Back in Ocean Isle this week to bring some stuff down to our new house we purchased on OIB and David met us out at the tie downs with pilot lounge pass code. Filled out overnight paperwork and told him we would be re-fueling in morning before departure and overnight fee was waved. Runways look great with new blacktop and markings. Keep up the good work.

Flew into 60J this morning for a short business meeting in North Myrtle Beach. Although there weren't any rental cars available, FBO personnel gave me a courtesy car (which I suspect was their own personal vehicle) for the trip into North Myrtle Beach. VERY nice facility and really nice folks manning it. I can see Ocean Isle becoming my first choice when stopping in the Myrtle Beach area.

With self-serve fuel at the lowest price around and a brand new, just opened pilot lounge with computers and WiFi for pilot access, this little airport has become very pilot friendly. Much improved from the desolate strip it was just a year ago. You gotta see the improvements to appreciate!!

It's a great FBO and airport. Sharky's is a great place to eat. Mr. Hill and Mr. Jackson make you feel like home. You are 1 mile from the beautiful beach. Great day trip or I understand there are local rentals available for over night as well.

Great airport close to Ocean Isle (5 minutes away). David Hill was very helpful and loaned us a car, so we could pickup a rental car in Shallotte (10 minutes away). Having cheap fuel on the field really makes it easy to prep your plane for a long trip. Plenty of parking except on July 4 it was fully packed - some parking on grass.

Flew into 60J for Memorial Day Weekend. As always, ample ramp space and such a nice airport. Self-serve fuel was available and at a very reasonable price. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

N2212R - Flew into Ocean Isle Beach last Thursday. Plenty of ramp space and the FBO construction continues. David Hill drove us to Sharky's restaurant in the courtesy van and had someone pick us up when we were done eating. Sharky's has great burgers, by the way, and a beautiful view from the deck out back. Fuel price was still $3.95 at the self-serve pump. Mr. Hill mentioned that the price was going to increase, but was still going to be the lowest in the area. I'll definitely be back.

Stopped at dawn on Sunday 28 Oct 07. New fuel farm worked well. No after-hours bathroom, wx, phone, lights, or ladder. Good fuel prices though and lots of construction going on so maybe the other stuff will improve.
