This historic destination lies under a 500-foot cutout of the LaGuardia airspace. If you approach over the Throgs Neck Bridge, you can come in here without having to get Class B clearance on the radio. But if you're not sure precisely where you're going, better to get Class B clearance. No Avgas available. They do have mogas, but I'm not sure if it's accessible from a seaplane. There is a concrete ramp and a hangar. If you intend to use the ramp, call to let him know you are coming, so he can make sure it is clear of boats. There is one Lake Buccaneer seaplane based here. In the old days (before LaGuardia) there were many seaplanes based here - people from the Bronx would do all their flight training here, and when they got their private pilot certificate, it would say "Airplane Single Engine Sea" - no land privileges!
