We landed at 83D on Saturday evening, October 20, 2007 around 7:00 PM. Before I was off the runway, the FBO inquired if I needed fuel. By the time I taxied to the fuel pump, the lineman was waiting for me. While fueling the plane, he asked if I wanted to use the courtesy car for the night. Excellent customer service and very clean facilities! All of this great service was for a Cherokee 140.

Stopped in for a long weekend and they were very friendly and the FBO is modern and clean. Bring your own tie down ropes; none were available. If expecting fuel call ahead and make sure someone will be available.

Great FBO and just a short "hop" from MCD. I walked in after landing and told them I was staying overnight. I asked if they could call a taxi for me, and they handed me the courtesy car keys for the evening! Excellent support in the morning getting refueled. Take their advice on getting your flight plan in the air from Minneapolis Center.

Great FBO! They gave me a lot of local advice and called a taxi for us to boot. Fuel is a little pricey.

Stopped by 83D on May 22, 2006, and found it to be a fine FBO. The airport is well maintained, the FBO is neat and well organized, they have a service-oriented modus operandi, and the men's room was impeccable. Fuel price at $4.20 was fair and reasonable. I needed a crew car. Paul (FBO owner) was most gracious in providing for that need. St. Ignace is a neat town, and exists primarily to service the flow of people to/fro Mackinac Island. There are plenty of lodging facilities (it might be wise to call ahead for lodging during summer) and good restaurants. There are few "eye candy" sights from the air as engaging as the Straits of Mackinac and the bridge. We'll be back. No, I don't live there and I'm not with the Chamber of Commerce. It's just a great place for a flying visit.

I can't say enough good things about Great Lakes Air personnel and their facilities. We flew in on Labor Day Sunday afternoon, one of the busiest time of the year in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. They bent over backwards to get us to our hotel and made a special trip to pick us up at our hotel for our return trip Monday. The facility was beautiful, his airport dog was wonderful, and their hospitality was as good as it gets. We are already looking forward to an opportunity to return.

Very nice people at the airport. No fuel truck available, so you have to pull your plane to the pump, but they will refuel you there. Also there are no tie-down ropes available, so bring your own.

Stopped here in the Skylane for an overnight trip including a day at Mackinac Island. Chose 83D over MCD since there was no acceptable lodging vacancy to be found on the island. Only problem appeared in that there are no car rentals at 83D, but this problem was quickly solved when FBO operator, Paul, graciously offered the overnight use of a courtesy car. We used it to get us to the ferry boat (ferry boat fare is cheaper than the combined fee + RT horse taxi fare at Mackinac). The ferry is a quick and scenic 15 minute boat trip to the island and provides a great scenic view of the famous Mackinac suspension bridge. We also found acceptable lodging and dining here in St Ignace. Having tried it both ways now (landing on the island and landing at 83D), I believe either alternative is equally acceptable. Remember -- you have the availability of fuel and service at St Ignace and none at MCD. So give them a try!!
