We flew in to Campbell Field May 25 for Soup On Sunday. What a treat. Approximately 20 planes parked on the field and twice that many people having chili & dogs & soda's and desserts; plus great flying stories! If you haven't made the journey in for Soup On Sunday - you definitely should soon. You'll be glad you did - Oh, and bring a tent as camping in welcome! Note* Not sure ATC knows the exact location of the field because we were 35 NM North of it still at 12, 000 feet and had to make the request for descent 3 times before getting lower.

Flew in to Campbell Field 11/17 for the Fly-In & Campout - what a great experience. Gordon Campbell is a gracious host and his generous hospitality provided for a terrific weekend. Idyllic rural (3000') grass strip with a comfortable old-time atmosphere. We were treated to dinner, bonfire, marshmallows, a movie in the hangar, and pancakes and sausage Sunday morning. Met and mingled with some really great pilots. Gordon hosts weekly Soup-on-Sundays, see the airport website for schedule, I'll definitely be back.

Flew into Campbell Field today for a "Soup on Sunday" event. Nice little nostalgic airport with two grass landing strips. We did not eat anything, but there appeared to be plenty of good chow available for those who care to have a bite to eat. The place kind of reminds me of the good old days of aviation. Watch out for the utility wires at the approach end of runway 3; they are marked well, however. This was our first visit here.

I have flown into Campbell Field Airport on two occasions for their "Soup-on-Sunday" program. Both times there were many planes in for the day. The steamed hot dogs and chili was excellent and they only ask for a small donation. Campbell Field has a nice wide grass runway. It is plenty long for most planes and is for the most part smooth. I was told that it is the oldest grass runway in Virginia. Flying over the Eastern Shore of Virginia is visually great. There are views of the ocean, barrier islands, Cheasapeake Bay, creeks, etc. I will be back.
