Eds flying service is an insult to the aviation industry. Very bad attitudes for such a hole in the wall place, avoid if possible

Stopped by back in November. Good enough service and a tie-down over night. Having lived there, yes, Alamogordo is beautiful, but it's a small town with small town amenities. Ed's is well stocked, but if you have the option (active duty and do some paperwork), the Aeroclub at Holloman treated us much better and had a much lower fuel price.

Don't know about the other reports. Ed was very friendly. I was running late and he called to make sure Hertz would stay open for my rental car. Had my plane fueled early and didn't charge me any tie down fees for my couple days stay.

Definitely not user friendly. On 10/28/07 drove by after the Holloman Air and Space Expo to check-out their facilities. Got there about 4:50pm and was told they were closing shop and didn't have time to show me around. So much for customer service.

Landed there at 4:30p local. I thought I was in a western movie and arrived at a ghost town. Ed's Flying Service was shut down like it hadn't been open in years. A few old 30 year old cars and a beat up RV sitting in front that looked like they were there in a bone yard. It was not what I needed...I needed fuel and a look at the weather radar. So, don't stop here if you need anything except of photo of your aircraft in a western ghost town. I took off and headed to Las Cruces where they had fuel and food.

Quick service.

We made a fuel stop at ALM on 4-27-06 in a C-414. We paid cash for $450 of fuel. While I was on the phone to file, the aircraft owner thumbed through a magazine from a rack. Ed's wife admonished him for opening and folding the magazine saying " Those are for sale and I don't want you folding them open." For $450 cash fuel they were not very nice. I don't think the owner of the aircraft will stop there for fuel ever again... They just don't get it about customer service and pleasant treatment of visitors to their FBO. It is a shame that they are the only one on the field.

I recently flew into Alamogordo and when I called Unicom for an Airport Advisory I asked if they had any other traffic in the pattern. The voice was that of a man and his reply was a very terse, "Do you hear anyone?" This attitude was not only rude but very dangerous as well. We all know that not all pilots use the radio. Usually the local FBO will advise other traffic when asked. I can't be sure who it was but Ed's Flying Service was running the unicom that day.

No flight planning facilities. I asked to use the computer to check the weather, and was met with the most frosty of glares. Then, asked to use the phone to check the weather, but was not allowed to sit down at the desk while doing so. One restroom was out-of-service, so I asked to use the other gender's, and they were reluctant to let me use it.

Great stop! I let them know I'd need fuel while still a few miles out - one fellow (Ed, I think) directed me to a parking spot while another pulled up the fuel truck, and they had two hoses going, one to each tank, as soon as I shut down and said "Top it off." I could've litterally been turned within 20 minutes, touchdown to takeoff. Well stocked FBO - charts, etc. Reasonably priced fuel. Beautiful area. The only potential drawback is the lack of facilities to check weather or do flight planning.

I go to ALM about every 3 to 4 weeks from Texas. I have found Ed and Angie to be very amiable and always helpful. I would not want to stop any other place. I found courtesy to them results in friendly and courteous behavior in response.
