I stopped here for fuel on 10/25/11. Pumped 14.9 gallons but was charged for 16.35 on credit card. No one around at FBO at 2:00 in the afternoon on a weekday.

This is my regular fuel stop from Ft. Myers to Gatlinburg and back, Although I used another nearby airport for years, I agree with the previous post that I am now voting with my wallet. If you just want an easy fuel stop, well maintained runway and easy bathroom stop for wife & kids, KAMG is perfect.

Stopped at Bacon Co. yesterday on my way from FL to Atlanta. I'm voting for lower fuel prices with my wallet. Lowest fuel price in the region. New ground cable; all systems worked just great. Baron is in the hangar. Plenty of tarmac on all sides of the fuel pump. Flexible hose makes it fully accessible even if a plane is parked nearby. This is a great fuel stop.

We stop here regularly on flights to Tampa whenever headwinds prevail. The pump and fuel station equipment is getting pretty rickety and I expect the grounding cable to fall apart at any time, but it works. We've been here numerous times and at various times of the day, but have never found anyone here. Unlike previous posts, I haven't had any trouble with AT&T cell coverage, but have had the fuel station blocked by a local unattended Baron - if you see it when overflying the field, I'd head elsewhere unless you've got a very narrow wingspan! Valdosta is close and reasonable. I'll keep stopping as long as gas prices stay low. (And I don't see that Baron in the way)

This place seems to be unattended. I commuted there for a project at a local business 4 days this past week. FBO open... TV on... Honor system snacks... Nobody around. The second day, I found the courtesy car had the keys in it... I used it every day since. This is a really cool place like you would never find in the big city! Towards the end of the week there were AG CATS being loaded by semis with cranes and all that was pretty interesting. When I grow up, I want the house on the water just South of 33. Too cool.

Stopped Apr. 23. Easy to use self serve pumps with competitive prices. No glitz to the terminal - restrooms, a phone, sodas in the fridge, and a vending machine, but I still like this place for a fuel stop.

Nice well run sleepy little GA airport to stop for fuel @ only $3.75 a gallon for Avgas these days is worth the stop. SS pump works well and no spotty cell reception with my Verizon carrier either. No tower to complicate things on the ground and Jax Ctr can pick you up on their radar at very low altitudes since the lay of the land is quite flat around the AMG area.

From Justin Cleland on 28-Mar-2010

Absolutely tailor-made fuel stop on an X/C. A couple things to add... There is definitely not a weather computer in the FBO, although the couches, TV, and vending were a welcome sight. Also, the cell phone reception was spotty at best (I have AT&T), which made a weather briefing difficult, and with no cpu available, I was unable to check prog charts, radar, etc. Via cell phone.

Unattended airports seem to be the new standard. KAMG works just fine. All we wanted was a good runway, cheap fuel and a clean bathroom; which was exactly what we got. Bravo to Bacon County.

The price is right, but certainly a no frills operation. If you need basic quick fuel at a great price, a clean but spartan restroom, no hot water in men’s room, this is it. Only downside, pump delivery rate was painfully slow, took me almost 15 min to pump 110 gal of 100LL. Not a person in site, but at that price who needs entertainment. Great 5000 ' runway. You can practice several touch and goes on a single landing before the end turnoff!

I landed here on 11/29/2009. Great fuel stop, but short in the snack department. Fantastic place to stop and enjoy the company of the management. Great place for any pilot to land, and feel welcome about doing so. For sure to use this airport again when going south.

Quick and easy stop with the best prices I have seen. I'll be back.

From John Leupp on 04-May-2009

We stopped by on the way to Sun-n-Fun and found nice people, clean facilities, and excellent fuel prices. Stopped again on the way home and found everything the same except it was well after dark and most of the nice people had gone home! The vending machine was almost empty, but that was likely because of all of the people hungry from Sun-n-Fun. This is on my list of places to stop again.
