Crew car procedure was very clearly spelled out and fun to go to a working Midwest town for dinner. Excellent fuel and very clean facility. We didn't see anybody at the airport, but it didn't slow us down. Plenty of space to tie down between the massive spray machines.

Great fuel and awesome service! We stopped on a Sunday evening and had no trouble getting a courtesy car and hotel room. The service was great, fuel cheap and town was cute. It was great to see crop dusters at work too. Thanks! We'll stop by anytime we are near.

Great facilities. Lowest price gas on our trip from New Mexico to Maine. Self service works well. Nobody else at airport, so it might be difficult to just drop in and expect to have transportation to food and lodging. To be fair, this was just a fuel stop for us, so we didn't pursue getting a ride in to town.

I was raised in a town 20 mi or so away. I stop here for fuel & to see my folks when crossing the country. Great fuel price and friendly people. We just stopped there and a gentleman in a pickup stopped by while we were fueling to offer us the courtesy car. Don't count on anyone being at the airport. It's a stop & self serve & use the bathroom place. Watch out for crop dusters. They're in an out and don't use the radio much.

The saying that people are friendlier in the Midwest must have started here. Nice facility, cheap fuel, car to run into town for food. Will be back.

From Brian D Hoff on 04-Dec-2010

This continues to be our favorite fuel stop! Clean and comfortable facilities with Internet and the lowest priced fuel we've found between Illinois and Wyoming. How I wish this were our home airport!

From Don Ferrario on 03-Dec-2010

THE GOOD: The fuel price is great. It was even less than posted on AirNav. Self serve as expected, equipment is very good. THE BAD: Nobody was home! Got there at 1pm on Wednesday, December 1. The building was wide open, thank you. It was very cold outside, so glad I could get in, but nobody there! From comments here, I was hoping to catch lunch someplace. I would have understood if the courtesy car was gone, but no one was there. I stayed in the building for 45 minutes, hoping someone would come back. If the airport is to be unattended and posted here that way it would be ok, but don't plan on getting lunch!

GREAT airport!! Mike was very helpful in using KAWG as our new fuel stop for trips to mid-west in our C-185 and Navajo C/R. Also spoke with Dave who is on airport with maintenance if needed.

From Bryan Warman on 01-Nov-2010

We stayed two nights. The first night we used courtesy car. The second night, the car was booked, but the airport manager, Mike, offered to pick us up (at 8:00 on Sat. Night!) and take us to the hotel. He picked us up again on Sunday morning. What a great guy! The facilities are nice, and they have free Internet.

Stopped at KAWG as the midway point on a long east west cross-country. Mike was waiting for us, even though we arrived at 6:00 p.M. He gave us the courtesy car for the night, along with recommendations for a motel and restaurants. Great service and great fuel price: Definitely on our "must stop" list for future trips!

Stopped @ AWG on way back to Denver from Chicago last Friday morning. It was around 0100. Self serve pump worked great. Price is terrific. If you are expecting to arrive after normal hours, call ahead as I did, and you can get the code to the FBO / pilot briefing area. Highly recommend AWG as a Midwest fuel stop.

From John Trudel on 30-Sep-2010

The price for fuel is unbeatable, and this little airport has LDA GPS approaches that get you down to 200 feet. The facility is unmanned, but VERY clean and convenient. The only drawback is local transport. If you can get a crew car (we did, and they wouldn't even let us pay for it -- they have only one car, but want to add another), there are two adequate motels and some good places to eat in town. All in all, this was a good experience.

Mike answered phone at 8 PM tonight. Wow. Said price is still good, and it's really SS (Self Service) 100LL with credit card. Welcomed me for my fuel stop and offered courtesy car! IFR approaches and quick snow removal. Sounds like a GREAT stop. Look for another note tomorrow.

From Mike Schwartz on 09-Jan-2010

Nice airport. Easy access to fuel pumps, even in the winter. And nice FBO. I arrived on a snowy day, but the runways were plowed. I'll stop here again!

Appreciate AirNav's comment opportunities. Read the positive remarks and stopped there for the $3.44 fuel both out and back from SD to Indianapolis. Found as stated: newer clean building, and the self-service pump actually gives a receipt!

Flew to Mt Pleasant on 5 Sep for the Old Thresher's Reunion and decided to take advantage of Washington's less expensive fuel for the return trip to Omaha. The price was $3.64 and the facilities were first rate. Oh by the way, I saved 35 cents per gallon. This will be my SE Iowa fuel stop.

From Darryl Hosford on 17-Jun-2009

I love this airport. Great price on self serve (automated) fuel, nice FBO building. Highly recommended.

From John Bos on 10-Jun-2009

Had a great experience in Washington. We were given use of the courtesy car to drive our 4.5 year old and 3 year old to the nearest McDonalds. For those families traveling with small children, please note that the Washington McDonalds DOES have an indoor play area.

From Mark Ertz on 25-Feb-2009

KAWG has the low fuel prices in Eastern Iowa. In addition, they are friendly and helpful, too. Tipton is the next best price generally, however they have one RWY and nobody is there most of the time.
