I have been using Five Star at BAF for years on flights from NJ to ME. Until recently they had the best fuel (100LL) prices around and great service. However, on a recent flight (July) I checked fuel prices on AirNav and found that AirFlyte was underselling them by $.05. I decided to go to Five Star anyway out of loyalty and respect for the service they had provided me in the past. I filled my tanks but when I went to pay, the price was $.40 per gallon more than advertised. They told me that it had just changed that morning. I explained why I had chosen them over AirFlyte and asked if they could match their price from the day before. They would not. Just to double check, I called AirFlyte to see if they had raised their prices - they had not. So while I was willing to spend $.05 more per gallon out of loyalty, I ended up spending $.45 more. Worse than the price difference, however, was the lack of consideration for my loyalty. I'm headed to AirFlyte.

We did our recreational dinner flight to BAF..15 people and 4 airplanes from FRG. The restaurant has taken service and food up several notches. I suggest to anyone who hasn't been here for a while to go back and revisit. Exceptionally good airport restaurant. And Five Star always does its best to provide low fuel prices.

I have had good experiences with Five Star in the past. However, on a long trip on Christmas Eve, we landed for fuel shortly before 5 p.M. There was nobody around, although the lights were on. There was no advance information or even a sign on the door to indicate that they would be closed. We were nearly stuck, and would have been if I hadn't been able to access AirNav from my iPhone and find self-serve just a few miles away in Northampton (7B2). Disappointing.

Have business at several locations in Central MA. KORH and KBAF were/are the two best airports in terms of location. Five Star at KBAF blew away KORH for both service and price! No sacrifice for service with the great pricing. Now only go into KORH for drop off and pickup. Will not have anything to do with them otherwise. Very friendly and Very accommodating! A very well run and organized FBO - very highly recommended!

Gas was going in the tanks before I was even ready to get out of the plane. These guys & gals are the best, I'll stop there anytime I get near BAF. A+++++++++, 10 Star!

Line personal are great. Place doesn't seem to have the same hospitality of firing up the grill as it has in the past. In any case, the airport restaurant is awesome. I gotta say that I feel bad for the FBO being a BP dealer. That company is not sitting well with me right now..

The rental car and paperwork was ready and the friendly reception from the staff was very encouraging. Fuel prices were the lowest I've seen for a long time. On departure, there were a couple of complimentary cold waters to take with us. Such a nice touch. Even closed the airport for 30 minutes to give us a personal aerobatic show. Wow! A very good place to stop. Watch out for some tight gaps though if you're taxiing to their long-term tie-down area. Good to ask for a lineman to watch the wingtips.

Stopped at Five Star on my way to BOS for an Angel Flight. Called ahead for a quick turn and the lineman was on the ramp upon my arrival. Topped off the A36 in "his personal best time". Engine stop to engine start was 50 gallons and six minutes. I have always been pleased with quality service at the discount price. The restaurant makes this stop even more worth it!

Stopped in for lunch and a top off on Monday. Was met with smiling faces but also informed that the airport restaurant is closed on Mondays and that the crew car was in use already - great! Not to worry, those same smiling faces offered to cook us hamburgers and hot dogs on their grill - complementary! I fly a single engine! The prist additive and the ice cream sandwiches for desert were also complementary! What else is there to say - you're missing the boat if you don't stop there. I live in Tennessee and know hospitality when I see it. You will see it too.

Horrible, horrible customer service. Five Star has cheap gas, and you get what you pay for. They didn't chock my plane even though their ramp has a slight slope. I needed some help with filling my landing gear strut, and they wasted three hours of my time by leading me to believe they were going to help. My time is worth more than the $8 of savings. Luckily, the other FBO helped me out of my trouble. I will never do business with Five Star again. If you do, I recommend you watch their linemen and check the gas meter.

Fantastic prices, friendly people, a great facility...this is an almost perfect fuel stop. We stopped at Five Star in our Citation and loved it. The only thing that tarnished the experience is the letter that arrives a month later with an invoice for a landing fee. It was $11 for us--not much; but, the hassle factor is absurd! Why not collect the fee at the point of sale?? It probably costs $8 of someone's time just to process the bill. IMHO, this is a creeping user fee policy that should be stopped. You folks in Westfield should be working on your city council to get them to understand the value of your airport and get this fixed.

Five Star is a great FBO! I flew into Barnes to visit the Basketball Hall of Fame. They gave me a courtesy car to use for the day and directions to the HOF, and I didn't even buy any gas (rental). I tried to give them some money to show my appreciation and they would only take $5.00 to cover the auto gas. Free bottles of water and I was on my way. No doubt, I will stop back there on my next visit. Thanks for great service!

Having read the comments on this board, expectations were high when I flew in on Jul 24 for a quick turn to pick up fuel and file to my next destination. I was not disappointed. Flawless, friendly service. It certainly doesn't hurt that pretty much everyone who works there is a GA pilot! That explains a few things. We returned later in the afternoon with 3 other planes for a late lunch at the restaurant and continued to receive excellent service. If only every FBO had this attitude! No F-15's were operating the two times I visited that day...Oh well, I have no choice but to come back and try again!

Great FBO. Had to stop at BAF due to low ceilings. They set me up with a car rental, tied down the airplane for couple days, and made everything as easy as can be. Great fuel prices, too. Also, the kids got to see four F-15s do afterburner takeoffs, followed by near vertical climbs. That made up for having to drive a rental car home.... I'll be back.

Flew in today with 2 other airplanes for breakfast. Confirmed with the lineman that avgas was $3.19/gal as posted on AirNav. After breakfast, went to settle the bill and was astonished the price was $3.49! I was told the price had just changed but I did not see a fuel delivery truck while at breakfast on a Sunday morning! Makes one wonder about the honesty of the operation! Response from Joe Occhiuzzo, General Manager, Five Star Jet Center Dear Anthony, I am truly sorry to hear about your experience. As you can see from all of our other comments, your visit is not the norm and we strive to give our guests the best possible experience. While we regret having to raise our price because of the current market, we are still the best value in the entire northeast and will continue to be. If you had brought this to my attention I would have certainly taken care of you-- in fact-- if you stop in again, please see me and I will discount your fuel purchase as a one-time customer service gesture. We take great pride in our customer service, and no one will be allowed to fall through the cracks! Sincerely

Flew in for a quick top-off. They were great, offered coffee, etc., while we waited. You can't beat the price, and the service was terrific. Five Star should be called 10 - star! Great service, friendly and clean. I keep my SR22 at Southbridge so it's an easy flight over for fuel (savings of almost $2.00 per gallon from my home airport and over $3.00 per gallon from our summer place on Martha's Vineyard). My high school buddy - Paul B'Shara owns the restaurant by his name. Great place there too.
