Not only was the gas much more expensive than at nearby Bridgeport, they had NO VFR SECTIONAL CHARTS! What kind of FBO doesn't sell charts? They suggested that Signature "May have some".

I have used TAC Air BDL several times over the past year and their service is always exceptional even though I am flying a single engine Piper Arrow. They are always available to assist with parking and are always friendly offering the same services they offer to their jet customers.

We use TAC Air BDL every opportunity we get when visiting BDL. The service and attention to detail are all items we enjoy in our Lear 55 and Challenger 601. Ed Malec, the GM is extremely hospitable as is his staff. Additionally, Ed's is always considerate to customer pricing. This means a lot to us, as we always know our service to value level is at its highest achievable level.

I was at TAC Air, BDL on 11/11-13/07. All in all a decent, albeit expensive, experience. Line guy met us at the plane though declined to help with the bags. The front desk, while a touch surly, was competent. Fuel is high, but that is not uncommon these days. The airport authority mandates landing fee and overnight charges, or so I was told, and would not/could not be waived. Ramp was full with a BBJ headed to London and a Global Express headed to Africa. Still, my little turbo twin was treated with modest respect.

FWIW, The manager at TAC Air contacted me promptly to address my previous comments. He felt that my experience was not representative of the typical BDL TAC Air customer service effort. In addition, he mentioned that the ramp and parking fees are state mandated and cannot be waived. His unsolicited concern was certainly appreciated.

I rarely comment on service and handling at an FBO, but worth the exception in this case. BDL TAC Air was the worst service experience I have ever had. With no other customers in sight, I walked in to return my rental car and was told that I would have to return it to the terminal area because I did not have my rental receipt. The so called CSR just stared at me with arms crossed and kept insisting that she had no way of looking up the rental return information. After I called over to the Hertz counter and asked if they could look up the rental information she gave me the rental record which I gave to the CSR at TAC Air. She looked at it and said, "This doesn't help me." Finally toddling her way over to the computer she magically was able to find the rental record. 15 minutes of wasted time later she says please pay your bill. As I sign for $2500 of Jet A for my Citation V Ultra at $5.43 a gallon I noticed they did not even waive the customary $150 ramp and handling fee.

During my recent trip to Bradley I stopped in at the TAC Air Terminal. I couldn't say nicer things about this facility. The staff was quick and helpful, even though I did not purchase any fuel. If you fly to Bradley you should stop at TAC Air.
