Corporate business took us to KBHC for an overnight trip. Self-serve was easily accessible as was the main facility. The crew car was greatly appreciated, and ran great in spite of its' age. Both flight crew and corporate personnel enjoyed conversing with Ms. Lil; who was most helpful in making this stop most convenient and pleasant. Our most sincere thanks to Ms. Lil and the City of Baxley for their hospitality. Job well done!

Flew in today for some Avgas. The price was higher than I expected it would be at $4.80. I filled up anyways. I like to support people who do a great job. This airport is as cool and well run as ever.

Well after reading the comments posted here on AirNav.. I had to see Baxley for myself. My wife and I arrived early Sunday morning to be greeted by a very cool black dog that seemed to understand props. Fuel was priced better than most any place I know and the black dog liked peanut butter crackers. We met Lil and her Cairn Terrier "Dixie" on the return trip. Enough good cannot be said about Lil, Baxley and the hometown feeling.... This is what is missing in America!!

I stopped there several years ago to the gas price, I keep returning for the exceptional service. Lil does a wonderful job and Rick is ready to help with anything he can. If your trip takes you to south central Ga. Make BHC a place to gas up.

I needed to do some hour building and got iced in in MD. So decided to head to BHC based on experience in October. Well the airport was every bit as great as stated before. I operated out of here for 5 days and the experience couldn't have been better. The airport is great, Lil is great, the weather was great, the hospitality was great and the fuel price was great. This time I also needed an oil change and found the services of Robert, who runs Skytech Aviation Maintenance to be great as well. If you are ever anywhere in the vicinity, I couldn't make a stronger recommendation for an airport that really takes care of pilots! Met a few of the local pilots as well and everyone is absolutely friendly and exteremely helpful!

This is my kind of re-fuel place. Fuel was super cheap (compared to others) everything worked and they even had free candy. I will be back every time I am in the area.

A great place to stop for fuel, but I was confused. Put credit card in and thought that the pump did not turn on. Tried it again and again. Thinking that the power was off. Tried Jet fuel and the pump puckered up and the hose got bigger, charged me 27 cents and not a drop of fuel. I realized that the pump is not inside the pump, so no sound. It did work and it was my fault. So expect a quiet pump that does work. A great little airport

We stopped on our trip back to Florida, (KVNC) from PA and found all of the prior comments to be 100%. What a great place to visit. The FBO is immaculate, the free candy is great and the fuel price is fantastic. Kudos’ to Lil and staff for making this a "must stop" airport & FBO; "we'll be back"!

From Scott Stout on 05-Nov-2007
We stopped for fuel both coming and going to Florida's Rotary Roundup fly-in. Everything was as stated before. Not a soul to be found on the weekends, but nice place for a bio break and fuel. Though, on the trip back the credit card reader was very temperamental and would not read the card we had just used the day prior on the way down. Hazards of self serve. We will definitely keep this airport on our short list for stops!!!

Due to weather flew west up central FL. Decided to land at Baxley for fuel due to the price. Absolutely great place to stop. The four of us returning from a Miami football game found this to be the most intriguing parts of our trip. You must visit!!

What a nice place to stop over night or for gas! The best FBO we landed at! We stopped on a Thursday on our way to Ft Myers..We were greeted with a warm welcome from Lil and her dog Dixie! On our way back to Maryland we stopped on Sunday afternoon...Lil left a van and map to the Key West Inn. Access to FBO was easy, we used computer to flight plan the return trip. Bathrooms were clean the airport was quiet. We will add this stop over on future trips thru the south. We know why Lil was a named topped FBO in GA! Thanks Lil for your service and dedication...You are tops!

I would like to ditto the previous comment. We were traveling from KROA to KISM and stopped here for a fuel stop, because of the favorable comments. The price on fuel was great! Access to the FBO, which was unattended, was easy: with keypad entry with Unicom frequency input, air-conditioning, comfortable chairs, access to weather, honor system inexpensive food items, free candy, beautifully clean bathrooms. Who ever manages this FBO is wonderful. If it is on your way to anywhere, stop in!

This airport is quite possible the best airport I've ever landed on. I was forced to land there due to weather on my way to Florida from PDK. First, there wasn't a soul around. Use Unicom for entrance into the full service building on site. They had Internet, air conditioning, sofas, desks, magazines, bathrooms, and candy for my son. It was great and very surreal as I felt I was a million miles from anywhere. They also had the least expensive gas I've ever seen at $3.50 a gallon. I wish all FBO's were this accommodating. Thanks for having a great airport.

From David Allen on 06-Aug-2007
Stopped here a few days ago in the pre-dawn hours. PERFECT after hours stop. Fast self serve pump. Access to FBO for pax and weather. Other FBO's should follow suit...

From Lawrence Calder on 05-Aug-2007
Echoing earlier comments, easy and quick self-serve at very decent prices. I telephoned and left a voice message requesting info on a courtesy car over the weekend, and I received a return call the next day explaining that the keys are left in the car, and it's available to use 24/7. Great help to weekend/night travelers!!! Bathrooms clean for men & women. Would return.

Stopped for gas here on the way to SC coast. The airport is in nice shape, great fuel prices, and a nice, air-conditioned building with lounge, crackers, computer, and bathroom. We did not see another person, but a very quick and nice fuel stop if you are in the area.

From Harvey A. Kriegsman on 30-Jul-2007
Stopped on our way home to Florida. It was a Sunday and we were the only ones there but the fuel pump worked perfectly, there was access to the office to check on weather and buy some crackers. Lowest fuel price in the area, maybe in the country. All airports should be as nice as this one.

From T Miller on 10-Jul-2007
Stopped in at BHC on the way to Key West for fuel. The price was great (3.30 when others were charging 5.25) and the airport was very nice. The runway is in good condition and was completely deserted when I stopped in (July 4th). Another pilot was on his way in when I was leaving, and that was the only plane I saw there the whole time. Oh yes - the lounge is also very nice.

From Rich Steidl on 30-May-2007
Another great fuel stop. They seem to compete with Alma to provide some of the cheapest fuel in the southeast. Last time I was there I received a warm welcome that small airports in rural Georgia are famous for, but nobody was home this time on Memorial Day. Still, they have 7x24 self-serve fuel and the building is accessible day and night.

My wife and I were returning from St Petersburg to Knoxville in our Cessna 172 when we stopped for fuel and lunch May 20. We were pleased to learn that Lil has maintained the perfect formula for a very small town FBO! Previous comments on this list are again verified. The old Dodge just keeps on keeping on and Michaels still provides home cooked style meals for a reasonable price. On our third stop in two years we saw Lil only one time. It was our loss but the welcome is still excellent.

From Terry Dransfield, C-177A on 20-Sep-2006
Stopped at Baxley about ten days ago because of weather. Found a nice quite FBO seemed to be run by Lil. Lil was very helpful and polite, offered the van to go to town for breakfast/lunch. She was pleasant to talk to and helped make an unplanned stop bearable. Low fuel prices and good attitudes. Will stop on purpose next time.

On September 1 and 4, 2006 my wife and I stopped at Baxley Municipal for R&R and fuel on a trip to St. Petersburg from Knoxville, Tennessee. This is the perfect FBO model for a GA in route stop. Easy in and out with pilot friendly services. The FBO building is available 24X7 via a keypad to enter the Unicom frequency. Talk about forethought, this is nice. Restrooms, computer access to Internet, honor system snacks, Credit card cheap fuel, fast pump, and daytime maintenance if you need it. Lil likes to talk and have company. We recommend this stop to anyone.

On a trip to St. Simon's Island, we stopped in Baxley, GA to recheck the deteriorating weather conditions en route back to Perry, GA. Lil, the airport manager who made us feel very welcome, greeted us. It became apparent we were going to have to stay the night due to thunderstorms. Lil was extremely helpful in loaning us the courtesy van and suggested an excellent hotel to stay at. Lil greeted us the next morning and provided us with excellent service and made us feel right at home. I suggest stopping in Baxley, GA to everyone their superior service and welcome tops any airport I've been to thus far!

From Dr. Bill Heybruck on 28-Jan-2006
Filled up on way back from FLA today. Took a while for me to find the ON/OFF switch on the pump. It's on the side and marked (sort of). right under where the nozzle goes in. Great stop from Fla to Charlotte.

From Mitchell R. Keyes on 28-Jan-2006
Awesome airport, great prices and super service! During a recent trip to Florida, my wife who has been a loyal passenger and navigator for years became ill while flying. Looking down, we saw the runway in Baxley, GA. We landed in short order. My wife made her way into the FBO while I started to refuel. Inside she was met by Lil, the airport manager. Lil was extremely kind, loaning us money for the soda machine and guiding my wife to their sofa to lie down. When it became obvious that she couldn't continue the trip, Lil made us a hotel reservation ($34 a night!) and loaned us the airport van. I highly recommend a stop at Baxley!
