Nice group of guys. Arrived with a six-ship of T-34s after air shows in Mexico to RON. But there was a troubling accounting experience which put a damper on the whole visit. It apparently is their policy to round UP the fuel purchased to the next whole gallon. So, although we were given a quantity discount, they took it back by charging us for fuel we did not receive. When I questioned the practice, I was told that it was their standard practice and if I disagreed, I could take it up with management, who were not around. The listed price is higher than the competition.Response from Jeffrey A. Douglas, Secretary/Treasurer, Southmost Aviation We really appreciate the group of T-34s that stopped in with us on the way to the airshow in Leon Mexico. Beautiful aircraft and a nice group of gentlemen pilots. In regard to the accounting issue, he failed to mention that we also round DOWN if it's less than .5 on the meter. The trip South netted them .9 gallons while the trip back home netted us .6 gallons. So we lost a little! It may seem like odd accounting but it's the way our founder taught us and we aren't messing with the recipe. We appreciate all of our customers input and concerns.
