I called ahead to check on fuel availability. When I came through on a Sunday for a fuel stop on the way to Oshkosh, I got exceptionally fast and helpful service from Jon, the Airport Manager. Another transient pilot had taken the courtesy car -- so Jon lent me his Airport Manager pickup to drive into town for a meal. Can't beat that!

Good idea to call ahead with ETA because John is not always at the airport. Nevertheless, if called after arrival, he's there in minutes. Excellent service including cleaning of windshield without asking. Stopped here many times and always totally pleased.

My wife and I were extremely impressed with the great service that John provided when we stayed over in Clarion on May 31. From quick refueling (he knew of our estimated arrival) at a good price (they also now accept M/C and VISA) to the use of a courtesy car and even a hangar. The experience could not have been more positive. Thanks again John, I'm sure we'll be back again on next year's trip through your area!

A great place to refuel. John DeVries was most hospitable, and arrived only minutes after I phoned him from the pump. I think they are aiming to keep fuel prices low in order to boost the number of landings at the field. They expect to soon expand from 3500' to 4200' and from 60' to 75' in width.

We visit Clarion yearly to hunt pheasants nearby... Every year the situation gets better! Airport manager Jon met us to pump fuel, arranged hangar space for our two aircraft, helped us with loading/unloading, and even plugged in our engine heaters when the temperature dropped precipitously... Great fuel prices, fast Internet access for weather and flight plans, spectacular service, and a friendly interest in all things General Aviation. This airport is truly an asset to its community- we expect to bring even more hunters next year if Jon can get the Jet-A tanks in place. Thanks!

Airport Manager John DeVries kindly came out late Sunday afternoon just to fuel my Baron 58P en route from Jackson Hole, WY to Chicago, IL. Just give him a call in advance and he'll meet you, too! They do not have a credit card machine, and as such (and so as to keep prices low) if you don't have cash with you, they TRUST you to send them a check after you get home! Such nice people! Yes, it is very "rural", and the FBO is not very fancy, but it has everything you could want or need. More helpful, kind, good people that love aircraft you won't find anywhere else! I also met one of the City Council members just "hanging out" at the airport with his young daughter.... What a great attitude towards General Aviation! Sure wish Mayor Daily in Chicago was only 1/100th as pro-private flying! Also, did I mention the LOW fuel prices???

Stopped for fuel twice and service was great. Quick turns both times. No credit cards, cash or will bill for fuel.

Have been to Clarion twice in the last year to visit family for several days. Each time the fuel was the most reasonable in the area and Jon DeVries was most accommodating. He even provided an enclosed hangar as part of the service. Would suggest a call in advance, or e-mail, as he has a busy schedule. This is a typical county seat airport in the Iowa airport system. The facilities are unlocked, clean and embrace an honor system for fueling, and welcomes cash or personal check. ASOS info is available with DTN weather.

I stopped on my way to Colorado in a Skyhawk on a Sunday. Service was great! We borrowed a courtesy car and grabbed a bite at Hardees. We enjoyed watching the aerial spraying. We always enjoy stops like this!

Stopped here going to and coming from Oshkosh '05. Fuel price was $2.70 going...$2.80 on the return trip. In a 195 this makes a difference. Pilot shack is air conditioned and has the usual weather computer for planning. No cafe but who cares? By the time I opened my sandwich Mike was there to turn on the pump. No credit cards so they wrote an invoice and will just mail me a bill. On return trip I didn't even have to call...they saw me in the pattern. I will always stop at places like this versus the ripoffs just up the road.

This is my second time into the FBO in the last week. I had trouble getting my plane started and the guy from the FBO offered to help. A nice little FBO.

I stopped by on an Angel Flight mission. There was no one at the FBO but the building was unlocked and very nice. This is a really nice small toewn FBO. I did not notice if the fuel pumps were self service or not.

Nice airport, great people! Gas was cheap, and even though I arrived after hours, there was no callout fee. They don't take credit cards, but if you don't have cash or a check, they will gladly bill you. I will certainly return to this airport if I have the opportunity. Thanks!
