From David McNeill on 26-Aug-2008
Airport management has expressed regret over the handling of food and fuel services during the fly in on 8/23. They intend to do much better next time and I plan to give them another opportunity.

From Darrell Wilson on 24-Aug-2008
Had the same disappointing experience at KCGZ this weekend as described below. General aviation is struggling enough without putting bad attitudes (inside) and indifference (outside) from service staff on top of it. There are plenty of airports and FBO's that take pride in good service and relationships than to frequent those that don't.

From David McNeill on 23-Aug-2008
Arrived CGZ on 8/23/2008 for the fly in breakfast and fuel. Parked at the SS fuel pump and allowed passengers to go to the terminal for food. The SS prices had been temporarily raised to $.50 above the fuel truck price so I did not fuel at the SS pumps. I found the fuel truck on the field and they said they were going another direction and would get to me later. I went inside for the breakfast. It was a real bummer; soggy pancakes, partially cooked scrambled eggs and sausage. Juice and coffee for $6. This pales in comparison to the monthly fly in at Coolidge (P08) where the food is great and the cost is $5. After walking the flight line with my guests I again contacted the fuel truck which again said they were going another direction and would get to me later. I told the two teenagers manning the truck that I would report this to AirNav. That was a laughing matter to them.

65 aircraft flew to CGZ for our first Pancake Breakfast and Fly In. 58 Pilots took our survey. Our operations were rated as "Good", "Fair", or "Needs Improvement". Results were good. i.e.: Fuel Service - 89% Good; 3% "Fair"; 8% no answer. Airport Staff Service - 87% "Good"; 5% "Fair"; 8% no answer. FS fuel cost $0.10 less than the AirNav posted SS fuel during the Fly In. Refuelers were instructed not to speed, but to adhere to refueling safety procedures. SS fuel was eventually matched with FS to speed up refueling. A few pilots were unduly delayed. Our charitable vendor ran out of food and portions were too small. They did not purchase more food after running out as I had asked them and they agreed to do before the fly in. We have addressed and corrected these issues. Excellent customer service is our most important goal. Please stop by the KCGZ, we value your business and will serve you with a friendly smile.

We landed here on a flight Texas to California today and had no difficulty with the landing pattern. Everyone seemed to make their radio calls on time. Even more great news: the HOLIDAY INN IS PROVIDING AIRPORT PICKUPS AGAIN. Their number is 520 426-3500 and ask for the pilot rate. This is a completely refurbished hotel and the staff is very accommodating. I will be back again.

This is a great, well maintained facility. There is significant training activity, particularly with regard to the ILS. I've never had any trouble landing there, though. The self-serve fuel works well, except that the display is kind of hard to read. Also, there is a bit of a delay between the time you squeeze the gas trigger and the time that the fuel is dispensed. No big deal.

Response from Steven R. Hulland, Airport Manager, Casa Grande Municipal Airport
We at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport appreciate your business and hope you enjoy your time with us. As a pilot I know how the price of fuel is affecting everyone. You may rest assured that I will do everything possible to provide you with the best 100Ll and Jet A fuel prices throughout the Phoenix and Tucson area. We have recently started a catering service and will be happy to cater to pilots, crew and passengers. Please give us a call between 07:30 and 17:00 local. If you need catering after 17:30 there may be a call in charge in addition to our deliver charge. We will arrange catering for as few as one person. Watch AirNav in the future. I am planning on a reduced fuel weekend. Look for significant savings for Full Service fuel for any pilot who participates in our on-site survey during that weekend. Have a wonderful Fathers Day if you are a father and a wonderful day if you are not a Father. Fly Safely

Flew in for the Cactus Fly-In on March 7. Excellent service from the line folk. The fuel truck was even giving the self-serve price from the truck during the fly-in.

From Phil Knight on 26-Jan-2008
Flew in today on a fuel stop. Fuel as advertised. Still people not self announcing. No one in FBO, Francisco Grande happy to pick myself and passenger up for lunch.

From Ryan Joseph on 29-Dec-2007
Stopped for an overnight. Hotel Francisco Grande picked me up with their shuttle. Airport lobby was nice and staff was friendly.

From Ed Shreffler on 16-Oct-2007
Stopped last Sunday afternoon for $3.66 100LL. Pump worked fine and even printed a receipt this time. I will come back.

From Bob Wall on 11-Oct-2007
Good uncontrolled airport--fairly busy. SS fuel as advertised from good dispenser.

From Chet Cromer on 24-Apr-2007
Nice airport with good SS pumps. No courtesy car or nearby food.

From Jason Krause on 28-Feb-2007
Pilots at this airport seem to use whatever traffic pattern altitude they feel like. I almost landed on top of an experimental in the pattern. Self-Serve fuel pump is inoperative at times but usually is NOTAMED.

From Deavid Wisdom on 25-Jan-2007
This uncontrolled airport is DANGEROUS. Simultaneous multiple instrument opposite direction approaches by students. Self announcing is a joke, again students. Never again.

From Richard Suffoletto on 16-Dec-2006
Good fuel stop, friendly service, nice facility but if you need to overnight there are no motels close by and no transportation into town. None of the motels I called would pick up at the airport. It's ~ a $20 cab ride to the nearest motel.

From Bob Stebbins on 10-Dec-2006
Great self serve price as advertise on AirNav. Nice main terminal facilities. It is a regular stop for us on our trips through the area.

From Sheldon K. Hansen on 29-Jun-2006
Fuel Price as advertised...Thanks Cessna 340A. Nice Facility. We used standard left downwind pattern entry ...Had conflict with unreported 'flight school, training Bonanza...Says we cut him off... After we completed proper pattern entry and left downwind to Runway 5...He was apparently doing 'Missed approaches" on the ILS...Was way behind me...We never did see or hear him on radio... We could have landed...Then he does a "Missed Approach"...Which we did NOT appreciate having to do a "go around against downwind traffic. After a 600 NM flight and proper pattern entry! CGZ is "Non towered or Controlled" Airport and they should have executed their missed approach earlier or been on the radio announce their position, and known of our downwind, and base leg priority position! (Wake Up Flight Schools...Lets have some Courtesy!) Thanks for the service and facility is very nice. Thanks AIRNAV.... For helping us keep flying with the current fuel price situation!

From Jim Raney on 05-Jan-2006
If you're looking for the SS pumps, go to the left of the clearly labeled Terminal building which faces the tie-down area. There is also a large Phillips 66 sign on the wall to the left of the Terminal doors. Nice facility. Paid the AirNav reported price.
