Great little airport, with one of the best fuel stops I know of. The self service system works great and the small FBO they have could not be any better. Keep up the good work :)

Stopped in for fuel. Price as advertised on AirNav. The office was open, computer up and working for flight planning, and restroom was clean. A definite stop any time I am in south central Florida.
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority Hey Rory, Glad you liked everything. Sometimes that ole computer gets an attitude and doesn't want to work. If it ever happens just give it a reboot or a swift kick. Thanks for stopping in and come back soon.

I live at Hidden River and always appreciate the stellar low-key efforts of the Wauchula airport folks, especially the airport manager Jim. My wife always does a magazine swap on our way north and I always appreciate the cost of a top up. Thanks
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority Hey Michael, Thanks for the nice comments :) And I knew I was missing a magazine. Just kidding. Take what you want when you want. Come back and see us soon.

I've flown to CHN about three for four times now. Thank you Jim for everything you offer to us pilots! Those comfortable couches are heaven once you get out of the Cessna seats! Having the computer with internet there also is handy to check up on weather! CHN is most definitely a must stop for all pilots!
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority Hey Chris, you're welcome and I agree. Those couches are extremely comfortable. If you ever need anything please let me know. My cell # is on my business cards on the desk in the lounge.

Everybody I talk to knows about the good deal at CHN! Hey Jim, we really appreciate your outstanding service and pricing. And we sincerely hope you caught the bozo that was stealing "on camera". If you do, stake him out on an anthill... And pat your old pointer airport doggie for me; he always came out to say hello and check for treats before heading back to the porch...
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority Mr. Epting, Thank you for the comments. If I ever catch the guy I'll post a picture of him standing in an ant hill or maybe I'll make him stand by the taxi way holding a sign that says "I'm the Thief". Have a Great Weekend and if there's anything I can do just give me a shout.

I've been flying in here for years and have never had one complaint. It's a great runway in the middle of nowhere and the prices are always pleasant. Keep up the good work and we'll keep coming!

Flew in to CHN yesterday, 11.21.2007 on my way to Tampa in order to top off. Love airports like this, quiet, idyllic.... Geez you can even hear yourself think and can take time to look around and enjoy the peacefulness. Anyway enough of the waxing poetic. Self serve worked flawlessly and price was as advertised. The pilot lounge was clean and well organized complete with phone, TV and wi-fi, restrooms of course along with snacks on the 'honor system' although I noticed that Jim has caught a miscreant on digital cam. (Jim, if I spot the guy I'll let you know!) Jim also has a weekend price discount of .20 cents a gallon. One suggestion: It would be nice if a taxi stripe were painted on the taxiway leading to the SS pump. Would help especially at night since that area is a little narrow. A great stop in any event. Best and Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority Not sure which comment this will post on so I will reply to both here. Mitch, Your comments are appreciated and hopefully in the next 6 months or so we will have the striping done and new fuel tanks installed. I can't say to much at this point but it should be a lot easier and quicker refueling. Matt, Again thank you for your comments. We are working on making Wauchula the Best little fuel stop in central Florida. Have a Great Day and Thank You :)

Due to bad weather in Tampa, I had to land in Wauchula and wait out the storm. When I arrived the computer was not working, however a quick call to Jim Hay and he was there in about 2 minutes to get a connection and I was able to get the information I needed. And while I was there I topped off with some of the lowest priced avgas in the area. Thank you Jim for always being available and for providing us with great pricing on fuel. If you have not been to CHN yet, you should!!
Response from Jim Hay, Assistant Airport Manager, Wauchula Municipal Airport Authority You're welcome Keith. It doesn't matter how big or small the concern is, I will always be there to help. Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Great little stop, and great fuel prices. I'm building cross-country time for an Instrument rating and me and a buddy stopped in to use the restroom. No one present at the facility, but still a great place to stop and take a break after a long flight.
Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent, City of Wauchula Mr. Alexander. I am glad you like our little airport. If you ever need anything give me a call, and Thank You for the nice comment.

Fueled my thirsty Baron today at Wauchula's advertised price of $3.59. It took 132.2 gallons. I saved $205 over what the same top-off would have cost over at my home base in Sarasota, only 35 nm away! For my money, Jim Hay and the city of Wauchula are running the best little fuel stop in the State of Florida.

SS fuel has one-way taxi route with signs! Good price and convenient. Airport has a very comfortable lounge with concessions and TV. Restrooms were clean. Used the picnic table for our lunch break. Great airport.

What a cool place! Cheap fuel, a nice pilot lounge with free coffee, a water cooler, snacks, a soda machine, a TV and HI SPEED Internet -- you can use DUAT or AirNav or whatever Internet flight-planning tool you like. Pack up the family and a picnic basket and have a picnic on the picnic table under the huge, beautiful Live Oak tree -- a great alternative for a $100 hamburger run. This is a quiet, peaceful little airport. If you're looking for someone to greet you and roll out the red carpet, go somewhere else. But they have all the amenities necessary AND cheap fuel prices as long as you don't mind pumping it yourself. This will definitely be my fuel stop when I'm on the west side of the state.
Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent (City of Wauchula), Wauchula Municipal Airport Authori Thank You Mr. Steidl, Glad you like our little airport. Sorry I wasn't there when you arrived, next time give me a call in advance and I'll make sure I'm here with a fresh cup of coffee waiting for you. If there's anything I can do just let me know. Jim-863-781-0315. And thank you for your comments.

Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent (City of Wauchula), Wauchula Municipal Airport Authori Your Welcome Mr. Scarpaci and Thank You for your business. I have used Wauchula several times over the last year on trips to the Keys or when I just felt like flying in for some cheap avgas (my base airport is only 38nm away) I have always had good experiences with each visit and I am glad to see the new building open. There aren't too many services available at this airport, but the folks that live in the home right by the self serve pump are always there with a smile and a nice welcome (as well as their dog). I would not hesitate to recommend Wauchula to any one, especially if they want to save a lot on their avgas.
Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent (City of Wauchula), Wauchula Municipal Airport Authori Mr. Stringfield, thank you for the positive comment. I do want to thank everyone for there business this weekend and also apologize for the credit card machine not working so well. It seems it had a mind of it's own, but it will be fixed first thing Monday morning.

New pilot lounge and low fuel price makes this a great stop, plus the ambience of a quiet country airport. Improvements we'd like to see: a drinking fountain as the tap water is highly sulfur tasting, and a picnic table or outside seating under the great oak tree beside the ramp area.
Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent (City of Wauchula), Wauchula Municipal Airport Authori Mr. Brown, Your comments are appreciated. I will look into a water machine and also a picnic table. Again Thank You.

Great fuel prices... No frills, but clean bathrooms, a coke machine, and 24 hour self serve fuel. A good quick stop for some of the cheapest fuel in SW FL. I buy fuel here 2-3 times per month and have never had any problems.

Used AirNav to find less expensive fuel for a long trip from Birmingham to Key Largo. Sure was surprised to find the fuel pumps--I mean all of them---posted with OUT OF ORDER signs at CHN. Had enough fuel to make it to KAVO, Avon Executive only 20 miles east. Also, the fuel is cheaper at AVO------today I paid $3.50/gal for 100LL. Will not be back at CHN!
Response from Jim Hay, Purchasing Agent (City of Wauchula), Wauchula Municipal Airport Authori Just wanted to let everyone know that We are Very Sorry it has taken so long to get the repairs completed on the AVGAS Pump. A new motor has been overnighted and repairs will be made on Friday June 2nd in the AM. We also will have a spare motor for the pump in case this ever happens again. Jim Hay/City of Wauchula.

A great place to stop and refuel or do pattern work! I had my first solo at Wauchula and the newly paved runway and cheap gas make it a very attractive stop. The area has been heavily hit by recent hurricanes making the FBO non-existent, and the traffic light. (They're working hard to build anew.) Still a great, cheap 100LL stop.
