We flew our Mooney over the Smokey Mountains for "Fall foliage viewing", landed at DKX and were treated to wonderful hospitality from arrival to departure. Holiday Inn Convention Center picked us up and dropped us off the next day. Lots of great places to dine. Next time we'll try to ride the steam train. If you're going to downtown Knoxville, land here! It is a great airport.

This is a great GA airport. I have had occasion to fly in and out of downtown island airport several times over the last month or so and have been very happy with the service. The facility is in great shape and the staff has always been friendly.

I was in the Knoxville area for vacation during the week of August 18th and contacted the flight school in reference to the mountain flying course. I left a message for Brandon, which was returned later that afternoon. Brandon and I agreed on a time and scheduled the course for the next day. We got started with the ground school around 0830 and finished flying around 1400. The weather kept us grounded for a while, but was perfect for learning. The clouds were low, which made for excellent training on route selection and decision-making. My overall experience with Brandon was excellent. I had not flown much in a while and was somewhat nervous about my skills. Brandon made me feel comfortable and was very helpful when it came to some pointers for making better landings. The facilities are nice and so are the aircraft the school owns. My total time in the air was 2.8 hours. I would recommend Brandon's course to anyone who is interested in flying in the mountain area.
