By far, this is likely the best place to stop within a few hundred miles! (Maybe more....) The FBO is spectacular for the size of the airport. I've landed at considerably larger airports with appreciably less facilities available. Great pilot lounge, computers for wx and flight planning. Ended up being an unplanned stop for me due to weather deteriorating along my route and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Cheapest fuel around and over the top customer service! (Thanks, Jack!) The only complaint is the lack of a 'crew car', but the facility manager, Jack, graciously provided me with transportation to my hotel in town and wouldn't accept a nickel for his trouble. If you can stop here, do it. For the price of gas alone, it’s worth your time.

I have to echo the other user comments. We visited after hours and were able to gain access with the CTAF frequency and I have to say this is one of the nicest FBO's we've ever been to. It's amazing to see a rural airport with such outstanding facilities. This will be a definite stop on our future southern flights.

One Word... OUTSTANDING!!! I had the pleasure of turning what was at first a "quick fuel stop" - into a two night (weather delay) stay in the wonderful city of Shelby. Arriving at the airport it didn't take me long to notice that the FBO was the nicest I'd been to on my entire (15 state) cross-country flight. I was greeted by Jack Poole who welcomed me as family would. The frustration of my delay quickly diminished as I sat in the lounge and utilized their pilot amenities. Jack not only helped me locate a (great!) hotel near by, but also drove me there and back... For two days... Words cannot fully describe the awesome experience you will have if you are lucky enough to be "stuck" in Shelby - I can't wait to come back - this time with my family. Shelby is truly blessed to have such a facility - but it's EVERYONE at the airport that made it outstanding.

I stopped in on Memorial Day again and gave Devon a call for Jet A. He promptly drove out and graciously took care of our fueling. I travel in and out of this airport quite a bit from the DC area and the new FBO is great and well worth a stop if you're in the area.

I want to move to Shelby County, if all the people are like those I met at the FBO. They were friendly and conscious about ensuring all my needs were met. This FBO has a brand new building, which is top notch. They have 24 hour self-serve pumps or they will pump during hours of attendance. This is very important: the FBO building is configured to allow pilots access, at all hours, even during the night when the airport is unattended. At the side entrance (north side of the building) is a sign that uses aviation jargon, to revel the access code. This allows direct access into the new pilots lounge (reclining/sleeping chairs, television, restrooms – with showers I believe, vending machines and a full flight planning area). We all know the annoyance of landing at unattended airports, especially at night, without even the basic restroom available. This airport was designed with the pilot in mind.

Passed through twice this year in our J3 Cub in March. Thanks Devon! for your hospitality and driving us to the Flying Pig (Great BBQ). It nice to meet friendly folks that appreciate us little guys. You are one of the best Airport Supervisors out there. Also great fuel prices! We'll be back in the future and look forward to seeing you again.

Made 2 stops, going to and coming from Fla. New facility, clean and very nice. Friendly folks and great SS gas price.

Flew to Shelby-Cleveland County for a weeklong stay in NC. We were met at the Self Serve pumps with great service. Rental van delivered planeside so that we could unload while we fueled and then our airplane was tugged and securely tied down so we could be on our way. Simple and friendly service. Brand new terminal building nearing completion will certainly make this airport that much nicer as a destination for the future.

Stopped in for fuel before first cross-country. Happened to be there for a lunch on the field. Attendant helped with Self Serve pump and was a very friendly person. Recommended airport!

Pretty cheap 24-hour fuel for the area. Stop here when heading south...

Great place for fuel stop. Traveling from SPG to ERI stopped for fuel ($4.10 SS). Met by FBO operator and pointed to temporary FBO building, refrigerator with drinks and snack. New FBO building under construction. Will be back....

I flew in on New Year's Day and was unable to dispense fuel from the SS pump. I called Devon and he came out on the holiday and took care of us and we were on our way back to DC with no delay. Always great service and the recent upgrades to the taxiways are great and the upcoming improvements to the FBO/Terminal building just make flying in that much better. If you're GA and in the CLT area, make your stop at Shelby and you'll definitely be satisfied.

Very nice folks. Stopped for a quick turn. Attendant even helped out at SS pumps. Been here 3 times & given the service and low fuel price will be back.

Thanks, Devon for your true "Southern hospitality". Service with a smile, and allowed us to wait inside (in the cool) for a ride even after closing time. Reasonable self-serve 100LL too. Hope your new terminal building gets built soon!
