I was forced to land at the El Dorado Municipal Airport last week due to a stalled low-pressure system over NE Oklahoma and SE Kansas. We were grounded for three days waiting for the weather to break. Being grounded for three days far from home is never easy. However, our stay in El Dorado was very pleasant. Matt Wiebe at the airport provided us with a nice loaner car, securely tied down our 172, and recommended a fine motel. We never spent a dime at the airport but Matt was always kind and considerate. The people of El Dorado were super nice to us. We never once were treated rudely. I would recommend stopping in El Dorado anytime you're in Kansas. EQA is located about 25 miles NE of Wichita. The city of El Dorado has several interesting attractions including the Kansas Oil Museum that is well worth the admissions charge. The Best Western Motel on Rte 254 and J. Brian’s Pub in Downtown El Dorado are great values. Thanks Matt and the folks in El Dorado. I'll never forget your kindness.
