Arrived during the 5 pm push. Tri-State Aero offered use of a car to drop a pax & everything was 1st class! If only ATC could get a 172 below 5000 before entering downwind!

I had not been to KEVV since March, and did not warn them I was coming last week. Still they noticed me coming on their flight tracker and pulled my truck out to greet me. As I stepped out of my Cirrus I commented I was surprised the truck had started. I learned it had not, but they pulled it into the shop and cleaned the battery terminals and got it started for me. They also gave it a rinse, since it had been collecting dust for several months. No charge - just a thanks for my business. WHAT GREAT SERVICE!!!! I have been to may FBO's, in over 40 states, and this is one of the very best. Thank you Dave.

Arrived June 20th in our Cessna 206. The greeting and service was comparable to the best we have ever received. Everyone was very helpful and assisted us with the rental car, rooms etc. Upon returning home we received a personal handwritten note in the mail thanking us for stopping in. This has never happened anywhere before.

Last weekend, I diverted into EVV due to a line of severe thunderstorms. I was met at my plane and taken care of with the same care as if I were a business jet (I was just in my single engine piston). Yes, the fuel prices were higher than other airports nearby, but everyone was professional and polite. When I returned home to the Northwest four days later, I found a nice personal note from Dave Siebert of Tri-State Aero waiting for me that thanked me for my business. Although I would appreciate lower fuel prices, I will always appreciate kind and courteous service. I would swing through Tri-State Aero again if I were in the area.

Recently had some service work done here out of necessity. Was charged over $550 to place a new magneto onto a 172 (LABOR ONLY). They did not have one in stock and the next morning they gave me grief when I drove to get one (in Owensboro), instead of waiting another day to get home. Then they proclaimed that they did not install owner provided parts, even though the mag was new in original cartons. It is bad enough to get stuck with high gas, even worse to get taken for a ride on a repair that would have cost me less than $100 at home. They claim that because I came to them at 4:30 in the afternoon, it was considered "after hours" and therefore charged me 3 hours at overtime rates to tell me what I already knew, the left mag was dead! Next time I will fly into Hendersonville, KY and drive the extra 15 minutes to town. On the plus side, they did (eventually) install my provided mag and the repair was accurate. FUNERAL SERVICES for my WALLET will be held this weekend. Overall Grade: D
Response from Bo Ballard, Tri-State Aero Mr. Mackey, You are correct. Our normal shop hours are from 7:00am – 4:30pm. Anything after that, we have a minimum call out fee of 3 hrs, because at that point, our technicians are on overtime. Also, it is our policy not to accept parts provide by the owner. As a Part 145 repair station, which is audited by the FAA, it is imperative that we are able to track and manage all parts that we install. As noted on your work order, we put two technicians on your airplane. They spent a total of 7.5hrs. (3.5 each) to try and rebuild your mag. first and then eventually replacing it. We decided to only bill you 5.5 hrs. which included the 3 hr. minimum call out. We try our very best to accommodate all of our customers around the clock. Your choice to do the work after hours ended up costing more than if we would have looked at it the following morning. If you still have additional questions or concerns about the work that was performed, I invite you to call me at 800-473-2904.

My plane developed an injection issue and became AOG while at Evansville. Tri State Aero timely and effectively resolved the problems. Mr. Bo Ballard went to great lengths to insure my complete satisfaction with all aspects of Tri State Aero. I am glad they were there when I needed them.

Mr. Bo Ballard with Tri-State Aero said on 16 May 2006 that he ... "With regards to our pricing, I would just like to clarify that we do compare our pricing with 20 other FBOs within the region that are comparable to our operation. We have always been at the average, " ... Then he better recheck his current average. A look at area FBO's -KFRH @ $3.27, K3EV @ 3.60, KTEL @3.60, KLWV @ $3.60, and KBMG @ 3.33 gets an average of $3.48 USD with my math. Not what KEVV is charging today $4.65.
Response from Bo Ballard, Tri-State Aero Mr. Wright, You are correct, I did mention that we compare our pricing with 20 other FBOs that are comparable. The facilities that you have mentioned, while they are all fine facilities, are not comparable to our type of operation in their level of service, hours of operation, staffing levels, ground rent, building rent, flowage fees, insurance, etc.. A few of the facilities that are comparable within our region include KFWA, KSBN, KLAF, KSPI, and KCMI. They are all based at airports our size and have similar operations. I hope this has helped to explain what I meant in my previous email about comparable FBOs within our region.

Had an overnight stay in EVV Sept 15th and the folks at Tri-State were very nice, courteous and helpful. I had made arrangements for a hangar for my RV and they came through with no hassle. Fuel was a bit pricey but other than that, no complaints

Overall experience was positive except for high fuel. The reason we stayed there was because of the hotel literally 200 yards across the parking lot. Line service and personnel were professional. On return flight we flew to BMG where fuel was much cheaper.

Stopped to pick up a package for 5 minutes. Got socked with a $40 Facility Charge (light twin) or had to purchase the most expensive fuel around, almost $1/gallon higher than others around. Unfriendly "I don't care" attitude desk staff, but line guys were very nice. Bring a big pocketbook to stop here.
Response from Bo Ballard, Tri-State Aero Mr. Drumm, I certainly want to thank you for taking the time to comment on our staff here at Tri-State. We are very proud of all of them. With regards to our pricing, I would just like to clarify that we do compare our pricing with 20 other FBOs within the region that are comparable to our operation. We have always been at the average, while providing superior service. The facility fee ($3 for singles, $20 light twins, $40 for heavy twins) that you are referring to is waived with a fuel purchase. This fee was put into place 5 years ago, not only to offset those customers who do not purchase fuel, but also to help us in supporting General Aviation with donations of our time, facilities, and fuel to programs such as the EAA Young Eagles Day coming up here at our facility next month.

Stopped here way late (arrived at 12:30 am, departed at 4:00 am), they are open 24/7, however finding a person to help you at that time is hard. May I suggest that the line guy who is responsible for running the desk be outfitted with a call pager so that we can summon him to the desk when needed. Otherwise a fine stop.

Upon start up I had an engine fire (Cessna 182P). As soon as I stopped engine the line service men at Tri-State Aero put it out. They did this so quickly and efficiently that there was minimal damage. They saved the plane and have my gratitude (and also that of the owner of the airplane). I have been back since then. Great Service and facilities!

The staff here are in short ** AWESOME ** AWESOME ** AWESOME. On a long flight from Rapid City, SD (Via MDW), their ramp aids greeted the aircraft with skill and large smiles, only to be matched by the customer service agents. This place is an excellent stop for anyone going north on a fuel stop; or just a stopover to gain some respect for a "properly" run FBO. Congrats Tri-State.

I flew into EVV in a Cessna 172R and was treated like a professional. This was my first time flying into charlie airspace without an instuctor with me and I have to admit I was a bit nervous. Approach helped me into the airspace and handed me off to tower as soon as I had the runway in sight. After parking, the staff put blocks around my nose wheel and a carpet for me to step on immediately. WHAT SERVICE!!! I've never had a more enjoyable experience. Also, clearance delivery can be spoken to in the pilot's lounge via telephone which makes departing that much easier.
