We were very pleased with the service and friendliness at McGill Aviation. Very helpful line and desk crew. However, I was aghast at the fuel prices - $6.999 per gallon for 100LL! Granted this was full service, but still the price was beyond unreasonable. Upon checking the prices up and down the east coast from Florida to North Carolina along my route, I found no FBO higher and none that were even close. My home airport, EQY/Monroe, NC, has self serve for $5.26 and full service for around $5.76. There is no reason for such an upcharge as we saw at McGill. That's the only reason for the Good rating and not Excellent. I hope to get back to FHB in the next year but I'll be checking the fuel prices carefully before I go.

On July 21, 2011 I stopped at FHB for what was supposed to be a quick gas stop on my way from Charlotte NC to south FL. I found that I had a flat tire. The lineman at McGill helped me call the local mechanic, Kevin at Island Maintenance. As it turns out, the tube was torn at the valve stem and had to be replaced. There were no tires or tubes in town so I had to call my local mechanic, Vern Conly Air Service to bring me a tire and tube. The folks at McGill including Kevin and the Hertz rental car company could not have treated me better. I got the upgrade of the century on cars - a nice Audi VERY reasonably priced - they helped me find a hotel and were just overall friendly. It was a great place to break down after all. Thanks for helping me make the best out of a problem. I will be back!

The employees at McGill are friendly, and efficient. BEWARE - If you're renting a vehicle at McGill, expect to pay TOP dollar (Hertz affiliate), and the Hertz car counter is closed at 12:00pm sharp on Saturday and doesn't reopen until Monday morning. McGill WILL NOT handle vehicle rentals when the Hertz counter is closed. If you drop a vehicle off later than noon on Saturday, or anytime Sunday, you get charged as if you used the car until Monday morning (a true rip off).

Flew in yesterday to go to town for lunch. Met on the ramp by Jack who parked us. All four went inside and Ron had a crew car for us. Very pleasant and friendly. Lovely lady at counter provided directions to Brett’s, and we had a great lunch. Took on 20 gallons...A little pricey, but well worth it for the service and use of crew car. Thank you folks...We will return.

We flew into FHB for lunch on Sunday in our 172. There was a line guy to show us where to park. FHB is only an hour from home (OMN) so we didn't need fuel. The guy at the desk (I regret I didn't get any names) greeted us warmly and when we said we were just in for lunch he handed us the keys to the courtesy car. The car wasn't much but it was relatively clean and it had A/C and it ran. He suggested Barbara Jeans. We sat outside and had a nice view and enjoyed our meal, although the salad was a little soggy. Even though I did not buy any fuel, they did not charge me a ramp fee and they let me keep the courtesy car for as long as I needed it with no charge. Overall we were very happy and surprised after reading some of the negative comments about this FBO.

Counter folks were helpful and friendly. Had a little trouble figuring out where to park with no line assistance (did not want to park in a reserved slot). $15 plus tip taxi into the historical district. I chose to pay the $10 tie down fee instead of buying the expensive self serve gas that is well away from the terminal building.

Nice airport, pleasant people, Hertz car was brought to the plane when we landed. Disturbingly, when the line crew was about to move my airplane with the Lektro tug, instead of putting the strap on the nose strut, it was put behind the cog for the nose gear doors. Fortunately, I was supervising and corrected the problem before my Cessna 421 was broken. The lineguy said, "I usually get it right." Management did not seem particularly perturbed by this, nor did I receive any apology or any indication of gratitude for the great expense I avoided for them.

I visited McGill during my stay on Amelia from May 20 - 23. When I arrived on Wednesday, the winds were stiff, and it was raining. The line guy met me on the ramp, pushed me back and got me tied down while I stayed in the airplane so that we could keep the controls in place. He also brought the rental car out to the airplane. On Friday, Mike (I think) called me because he noticed my nose wheel was low, and wanted to know if he could put air in it. On Saturday, we loaded up, and were ready to go when we had a little problem. Your guys again were very helpful. They helped get my nose into your hangar so I could troubleshoot, made some phone calls for me, and even helped me find some tools, and suggested an excellent solution to the problem! All in all they were eager and helpful in an effort to make sure we were served and safe. I was grumbling a bit about your fuel price, but your service was exemplary. We'll be back! Please extend my thanks to all!

Line guys nice BUT I bought 275 gallons of Jet fuel at 4.99 a gallon and no crew car I complained and the line guy behind the counter pretty much told me to go F myself I will never buy anything from these people again The talk is of someone else running the FBO I am all for that when they build the new terminal get these people OUT Response from Sean McGill President, McGill Aviation In response to Mr. Arblaster's post. He requested our courtesy car and was informed it was out of service and the replacement had not yet arrived. He was offered the choice of taxi or discounted Hertz rental car. He declined both. The Hertz agent, who was heading out to lunch, offered him a ride. He accepted that ride, but his passengers arrived an hour early and he was forced to leave without the opportunity to grab a bite to eat.

Stopped here on a recent trip to southern Florida. Great people, friendly, helpful. Of course if you are going to Amelia Island, this is the place to fly to.

Fine experience and clean facility. We called ahead for the courtesy car but upon arrival were told it was "broken". Everybody was friendly and the ride to a restaurant was about $7.50 each way. Fueling was done promptly. Overall it was a fine experience at McGill. N17386.
