Volo Aviation is a must stop. One of the best overall experiences I have ever had at any FBO. If you're looking to fly over the big water to the Bahamas, use VOLO. Convenient, fantastic staff, great food in the restaurant, it's all there.

From Brian Kilpatrick on 27-Jul-2009
Selected Volo Aviation based on comments here on AirNav. I wasn't disappointed. Line guys blocked us in and fueled us up immediately. When Gigi found out we were going to the Bahamas she asked all the right questions and provided us with the Bahaman customs forms we would need upon arrival. The restaurant was quick with service and the food was good. I would certainly return to Volo on my next trip. Thanks, Brian & Sarah Kilpatrick

I have been flying for years and generally do not take time to write comments for good service (I should). I have become so use to good service that I take it for granted, so believe me when I tell you that the service at this FBO is outstanding! When we landed at customs the FBO had someone there to help us with our baggage! We were delayed for a couple of hours due to weather so a extremely nice gentleman named Tom let us borrow a courtesy car to town for dinner and gave us recommendations/directions a restaurant. In our rush to leave when we got back my wife and I left a notebook in the car that had our passports and a pair of sunglasses. We did not realize this until the next morning back in TN. I called the FBO and Tom found our stuff and mailed them back to us. Tom was extremely friendly and helpful. I don't know who the manager is but if he reads this post I hope he gives Tom a big raise because this young man's helpfulness and attitude is what makes lifetime customers.

Went through Volo, to and from the Bahamas last week and the service and support were great. Spoke with Gigi several times before arriving and she and all the staff were great. Having the restaurant right there was very convenient, as well. This is one FBO that is doing it right.

Stopped in going to and from Freeport - very good service and very helpful staff. Self-Serve gas pump easy to use and prices very good. For a small fee they will help you with all Customs and Bahamian paperwork - its worth it. Life rafts only $18 per day - be sure to reserve in advance.

Great service. Set me up with a hotel and round trip ride for $80. Good overnight stop before heading out to the Caribbean.

Flew into Fort Pierce for departure and floatation equipment to the Bahamas. Sure glad I did! My eapis did not go through and Gigi at Volo Aviation was a tremendous help. The CBP website is definitely not user friendly! On the return visit the lineman pulled the plane from the customs parking area and refuel while we ate lunch at the TIKI restaurant adjacent to Volo. I never asked what the fuel prices were because at that point I was already a sold customer. I would recommend this departure to the Bahamas to anyone. Thank you Volo

Response from Genevieve Hazle, Lead CSR, Volo Aviation Fort Pierce (formerly Ft. Pierce Jet Ce
Dear Mr. Barder, Thank you very much for your great feedback. It was our pleasure to be able to help make your trip a memorable one. In addition to striving towards providing all of our clients with excellent service and attention, we also offer fuel prices well below industry average in our area. We look forward to seeing you again!! Thanks a bunch, Genevieve "Gigi" Hazle Lead CSR Volo Ft. Pierce

The PERFECT stop for a Bahamas trip - Outbound they provide all forms for both Bahamas customs as well as for US customs. They also provide all available information regarding facilities and just generally have a 'willing to help' attitude...All without charging a penny! Additionally the Tiki Hut is a great place to grab some food for the trip.

From Kevin Harper on 30-Mar-2009
Made an after hours arrival. Didn’t charge any fees ($0.00) even though I fueled at the cheaper self-service pump... Volo is the place to go @ FPR!!!!

From Ron Schreck on 10-Feb-2009
Our formation of ten RV's stopped on our way to Key West. The service was superb, the food was great and the prices for food and fuel are reasonable. We figure we saved $500 in "service" fees by avoiding the other FBO. Volo rocks!

If you are traveling to the Bahamas, THIS is the ONLY FBO you will need at Ft. Pierce, especially if you've never made the trip before. They have THE BEST prices on life rafts and life jackets (call ahead to check availability). They have the Customs forms and procedures for leaving and returning to the U.S.. Not only do they have the forms, they know them inside and out and will explain them to you. When we returned to the U.S. And taxied to Customs, a VOLO employee was there to help us completely unload the plane. As soon as we were release from Customs, VOLO took the plane over to their ramp (about 50 yards away) and topped us off. Thanks VOLO for a great experience!

From Keith Kilgallen on 16-Dec-2008
Volo is a top notch FBO. Don't go to Key Air across the field where they advertise $2.18/gal. Key Air has a $50(single) to $120(twin) fee to fill your tanks. All of the pilot comments at Key Air were NEGATIVE. Save your time, money and frustration and stick with Volo

I would like to strongly commend Volo Aviation for its assistance in helping take care of my aircraft after an emergency landing resulting from a severe bird strike near Port St. Lucie Airport. After landing, I was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Ft. Pierce, leaving the plane with a HUGE hole in the windshield sitting in the open. The tower called Volo Aviation and requested that they secure the aircraft. Chris, the General Manager, arranged to have the windshield hole covered and the plane towed to a part of the ramp that was under cover. I returned to the airport a few days later to clean up and arrange for repairs to the aircraft. I stopped off at Volo to pay for the services. Chris refused to accept payment. This gesture of goodwill was the icing on the cake of good service.

This is still a good return spot from the Bahamas. They still have the friendly staff, and the restaurant, rental gear, etc. What they don't have is good fuel prices. The fact is it makes more sense to just top off in the Bahamas, because the fuel there is about the same as the self serve here. In addition, the self-serve pumps here are hard to get to, and if you fuel in the Bahamas, you get full serve. Also, other airports are starting to make more sense as clearing spots. Too bad, because the people are very nice.

From Brian Sullivan on 11-Mar-2008
We rented a life raft and life jackets from them, was a great transaction, and fortunately we didn't have to use them! =) Never, I repeat, NEVER, stay at the Days Inn Midtown Ft. Pierce on 3224 S Us Highway 1. It is managed by the rudest person I have ever met--one of the worst experiences I've ever had with someone in customer service. It is far from the airport as well.

Stopped at Volo on a trip to Stuart to avoid the costs at KSUA. This is the second time I have done this. The service is good, but the cost advantage has diminished under the new owner. $5.70 for fuel (about $.80 lower than at Stuart) and $35 plus tax for four nights parking.

From Farris Ellis on 08-Feb-2008
Great line service but not worth $5.70/gal for 100LL

From Harvey A. Kriegsman on 25-Jan-2008
FP Jet Center was just bought out and the first thing the new owners did was raise the fuel price $1.00 per gallon.

Stopped in FPR for a fill up on the way to the Bahamas. The staff was very helpful. Line guys were "Johnny on the spot". They had everything I needed to make a safe flight to Marsh Harbour. On the return, the customs was very efficient and friendly. I'll be back. The food at Tiki was surprisingly great also.

From Mark Avera on 04-Jan-2008
The staff continues to do a great job but I was a little shocked to pay 5.80 a gallon for avgas when the price in Treasure Cay was 5.40 a gallon. FPR used to be known for having the best prices for full serve in the state. Apparently, no longer.

From Roy M. Kinsey, Jr. on 27-Jun-2007
I have a Customs overflight exemption and normally clear at PNS, but had to stop at Fort Pierce Jet on 25 June because fuel was temporarily unavailable at Treasure Cay. Although the lineman did his best, he was the only one working and couldn't begin to handle the demand. When I asked if someone was out sick he told me he was the only one scheduled to work. What should have been a quick turn (our airplane wasn't moved off the Custom's ramp) took almost an hour. I understand the FBO is under new ownership, which may explain why service at the Tiki wasn't up to what I've experienced in past years. In contrast, the tower and ground controllers and the officer in Customs were extremely pleasant, and could not have been more helpful.

From Paul A. Rosales on 06-Jun-2007
When flying from California to Florida, we always stop into the Jet Center as they have very nice facilities and helpful staff. The Airport Tiki restaurant is also great place to eat :-) Should you need to overnight, I HIGHLY recommend the nearby Royal Inn, (772) 464-0405, as the owners Joyce and Sandy ensure you feel like you are staying at a Bed & Breakfast rather than a hotel!

From Joe Nazar on 01-Jun-2007
Was there on May 16th to buy some approach plates, and the gal at the desk had no clue, and she was rude to top it all off. Maybe they should treat their customers better, even if we are only there for 20 dollars worth.

From Bart Bartlett on 11-Mar-2007
Stopped by both going to and returning from the Bahamas. The restaurant food was average. The service was great. I got help with my paperwork outbound. Returning, these guys literally bring the cart up to your plane when you stop in at customs. Clearing customs was also very easy (took about 3 minutes once we got our luggage wheeled through the door). If you park on the side of the ramp next to the taxiway at customs, they will even fuel your plane on the customs ramp. They were loading the fuel truck with gas when I got done with customs, so I just taxied across the field to the self-serve and headed on my way. Highly recommend these guys for return trips from the Bahamas if you heading North. It is worth paying the extra money to leverage their assistance if you are passing through customs.

From Frank Thompson on 25-Feb-2007
Tried Fort Pierce on a recent trip to Stuart to avoid high prices at KSUA. Tie down was $5 versus $10 at KSUA; fuel was about $1.25 a gallon cheaper. Facility not as fancy as Stuart, but adequate. Not as convenient as SUA for my purposes, but I would go there again.

From Ben Cater on 28-Jan-2007
I usually believe in the philosophy that if you don't have something nice to say than you should keep it to yourself but I have to say that these folks could not have been less helpful when I needed a jump-start on New Years Eve (12:00 pm/noon). I was willing to pay them anything just to get out of there but because I wasn't parked on their ramp, they refused to help even if I came to them and would not rent me their cables or power cart. Needless to say, that was my new years; I hope the rest of my year gets better.

From Daniel Cramer on 22-Jan-2007
I will never ever come back to Fort Pierce again! Got there after hours, self serve. No bathrooms or other services that I could find. Was very rudely insulted on the radio by some punks in a Dutchess doing training there. Went to a lit hangar to ask workers if I could use there bathroom. Was told if I don't have an airport badge, then no! and they were going to call the police because I did not have an airport badge. Maybe a great place to visit during business hours, but I would not recommend trying it after hours! 3.50something isn't that hard to beat. Down the road it's cheaper and at least they have bathrooms for the pilots. Will not be back again!

From Norm Harney on 27-Dec-2006
First rate service. We used them going and returning from our first Bahamas trip. They handled everything including hotel, ground transport, and Customs paperwork (both ways) very efficiently and inexpensively. Highly recommend.

From Lenore Collins on 27-Nov-2006
Stopped at FPR a couple of weeks ago on the way back from the Bahamas. After a morning spent dealing with extra national offshore air traffic control, it was a blessing to be back with the professionals. (Bahamian ATC lost our IFR flight plan, and we spent a half-hour out over the Atlantic unable to raise anyone at our assigned voice frequencies. It was nice to get home!) Folks at Galaxy were very helpful and welcoming. Tiki restaurant is open while under construction. We're looking forward to a return visit when they're finished — food, prices, menu, and service were all good!
