General aviation could really use more airports like Idaho County. We stopped by in the evening on the Fourth of July, enroute from Helena, Montana to Oakland, California. We found a quiet little airport with affordable avgas ($5.25), with fuel pumps in excellent condition and with a comfortable pilot's lounge, computers for flight planning, and clean bathrooms. There are also courtesy cars for the jaunt into town. It was a great place to refuel and rest for a bit before continuing our journey. The runway and taxiway are in good shape, and the AWOS system is now operational. We'll definitely be back.

The Idaho County airport has been the focus of improvement, and those efforts are becoming increasingly visible. Flight and movement surfaces have been upgraded, an AWOS installation is nearing completion and more is in the works. There is a site manager on the field who is helpful and friendly. Overall, this airport is among my top experiences as a customer.

Good gas stop. Crew cars available. Good food in town. Manager lives on the airport.
