I just completed my tailwheel endorsement at Tailwheels, Etc. Dennis is an awesome instructor! John, Ely and the whole gang at Tailwheels, Etc. Did a great job and made me feel welcome. And GIF is just a fantastic GA airport to fly in and out of, or just hang airport bummin'!

Flew into GIF for [at 58] my 1st Sun 'n' Fun. We figured it would be easier than going into LAL. Met John, who was MORE than accommodating and extremely friendly. He immediately directed us to a tie-down and answered all of our questions. What a nice, family-type operation! If you land at GIF, Tailwheels is diagonally opposite the big new terminal building on the field. Nothing against the City operation, but I certainly recommend you visit John. Chances are, you'll find him restoring a bright yellow Stearman fuselage in the shop. His goal is 1, 000, 000 pilots. I don't know if he'll make that, but they do some incredible training there as well. John, we'll definitely be back to see you again. Thanks!!

I just completed my CFI training at Tailwheels, Etc and highly recommend this flight school. It is a family run operation with highly skilled Instructors who are very friendly and enjoy teaching. You are not just a number here, you will feel like you are with friends. Special thanks to Crystal K. for all of her time and effort to prepare me for my oral/practical test. Thanks also to Jason B. and Bill B. for the additional knowledge and support. Throughout my pilot training I have used many CFI's and if I could do it all over I would come here for all of my ratings. There are no "hidden charges" and all of the instructors are accessible to answer any questions. Thank you John, Jonathan, and Liz for running a professional flight school operation.

I did my training at Tailwheels and love every second of my training. Even before I was a pilot I would show up and the owners themselves would take me out to fly with a student if there was room. I recommend everyone form your own opinion about Tailwheels.

In early Sept, I called Tailwheels Etc. to schedule tailwheel training for Sept. 23. I explained that I was flying to Winter Haven from Cleveland, Ohio specifically to do the training, and that Sept. 23 was the only day I was available, and was assured that an aircraft and instructor would be waiting for me. I called to confirm on the morning of the appointment, was told that my name was on the schedule, and was again assured that an instructor would be there to meet me. On my arrival, no instructor. It turns out he was out of state. I was told another instructor would be available in "5 or 10 minutes" After waiting 2-1/2 hours I finally left when no instructor showed up. So I lost a large amount of money traveling to Florida for nothing. E-mail to the owner of the flight school upon my return to explain the situation did not even elicit the courtesy of a response. Apparently customer courtesy is not a priority at Tailwheels Etc. I recommend going elsewhere for your training. Response from John Amundsen, Tailwheels Etc. Inc. Mr. Mannion, Again, I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced here at our school, but I would like to point out that your kids were on the schedule and not you. (They both seemed to be very happy when they left) We did call the instructor who was here after about 30 mins and you refused to fly with him. I would also like to ask you why you would Fly from Ohio to Florida specifically for a tailwheel endorsement and only allow 2 1/2 hours for an 8 hour course? Tailwheels Etc prides itself on customer service. If you would look at our feedback page on our website you would see that. Again I am sorry you had a problem and if you are ever in the area again I would be happy to discuss this with you.

I did my private pilot training with them last year. Their accelerated program is excellent. Unlike many other flight schools there are no hidden costs. I plan on returning to obtain an instrument rating in the near future
