My visit wound up working out, but Mid-Island's focus seems to be with its flight school, which serves a BOCES campus as well as Dowling College. I called the evening before arrival to coordinate things and got a non-working number at Dowling College. When I arrived the next day on a Friday just before noon, the FBO was not manned and the phone went to voice mail. Fortunately, someone happened to show up, and the facility was manned Sunday morning on departure. Everyone was very nice, and they waived parking fees with my fuel purchase. So the movie ended well, but not without more suspense than I cared for.
