Stopped in on a x/c, and took on some gas that was priced right. The flow was very busy, controllers and ground crew done a great job dealing with all the traffic. Redbird was a wonderful FBO, highly recommend them...... Keep up the good work Kiddos

Stopped in for the excellent avgas price and was very happy with the experience. For the amount of traffic the entire airport was handling, you couldn't ask for a better turn. From the controllers to the line to the people handling the fueling, everything was professional, kind, and quick.

I dropped into today to take advantage of the $1/gal fuel promotion. I spent about an hour talking with John Koenreich, general manager at Redbird Sky Port. What a great guy, what a wonderful FBO. He took the time to give me a tour of the facility, they have a lot of cool stuff going on. It's not just a first class FBO, they are a part 141 flight school, build full motion GA simulators and refurbish c172s with glass panels, paint, new interiors and a diesel engine for flight schools. I must say that I was inspired by Redbird's attitude toward revitalizing general aviation by increasing the success rate of flight training and lowering the cost of flying. We should all be so optimistic and willing to take a risk to encourage the growth of GA. Best of luck Redbird Skyport!

I can't believe no one has bothered to comment this month. Awesome experiment by selling 100LL at $.99.9/gal. I hope other FBOs are brave enough to try this. Great service, BTW - nice lunch counter and facilities. I hope to return.

I commend Redbird for their efforts and wish them all the best. It takes a big step like this to revive an ailing industry. I hope all of the pilots and owners who can get there will support the local community as well as the sponsors of this event. Lisa and the folks there deserve a medal.

Aug 3, 2013. Flew into Redbird Skyport for the first time, what an awesome experience. We were parked, promptly fueled and greeted with an open door and cold bottle of water. Everyone was extremely friendly and the FBO was spotless. We need to go to Wimberley and were going to be back after the FBO closed, it was no problem for them. They told us how to take care of the car on return. We will be back and will be flying into the Redbird Skyport. This should be an example for all FBO's!

Sky Port ROCKS!! Two weight shift control pilots are barnstorming around Texas and happened to land @ KHYI. I've never been in such a spotless and well run facility. It didn't take long to make friends with all the staff and take many up for an ultralight trike flight. We love the people, we were treated like corporate customers flying big jets. We will make it a point to return next time we are in the area. Don't miss SkyPort if you need a first class FBO.

Spent the Sunday with these fine folks. The rental car place was closed and was out of cars anyway. I had 7 passengers and they graciously allowed me to transport our people with their 15pax van. Very friendly staff, excellent line guys and a beautiful FBO means I'll never visit Berry again! If you’re looking for flight training, this place looks awesome. Too bad the food place didn’t look open, then again, it was a quiet Sunday. Maybe next time! See ya soon! Thanks for the great fuel prices. ;-)

I had originally given Redbird a one star rating due to my perception of some shady practices of trying to nab any airplane that passed by on the taxiway, even after clearly stating to Ground Control your intended parking destination. However, the manager of Redbird replied and invited us to give his FBO a try anyway. Willing to give everyone a second chance, we decided to try Redbird the next time we were in San Marcos. The professionalism of the entire staff such as pulling up the rental car, unloading and loading luggage, quickly refueling the plane, even walking from behind the counter to hold open the door, really helped change my mind (cheapest fuel on the field helped quite a bit, too). A personal, hand written thank-you-for-the-business note from the manager arrived in the mail a few days after we returned home. Very impressive, to say the least. We look forward to returning to RedBird next time we're in town.

We arrived Christmas day and really didn't expect anyone to be there on CHRISTMAS DAY!! The Weather was very windy and cold and forecast to get colder that evening. I was concerned about the wind and a cold start the next morning. Moses and Mark towed the airplane from a tiedown and put it in the hangar. The charge was very reasonable. Erica helped me get set up for departure the next day. John pulled the airplane out and had it ready to go on a minutes notice. I could not have had better service and everyone was as helpful and friendly as could be. Martha was there to help when we left. We could not have been treated better. I recommend them very highly and will be back soon. Thank you all treating us like royalty and have a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Superior. Period. Nobody else comes close. I picked up my buddy at KSAT and dropped him off at KUVA to pick up a plane, so I had to fly to work at KHYI. Before taking off, I called Redbird Skyport and asked for a courtesy car, which was immediately tendered (despite the fact that I needed it for three hours+). While on the way to KHYI, I knew that I needed an oil change, so I tuned Redbird, and they coordinated a same day turn with Garrett Aviation. (Actually, it was done in the a.M., despite a 10am arrival.) They also coordinated for me to have an avionics squawk evaluated. And it gets better...Instead of having to drive to my business meeting, they (Monica) drove me and even offered to pick me up after the meeting. The facilities are brand new as well. Unbelievable. This is now my favorite FBO of all time.

I fly into KHYI several times a month for business and always have excellent service from all of the folks at Redbird Skyport. This is a first class operation. I fly an experimental RV8 and a Cessna 180 and the customer service is the same as if I arrived in a Gulfstream (including the red carpet)! The linemen are courteous and careful when fueling and working around your aircraft. I would recommend them for anyone either staying overnight or just needing fuel.

I am here at Skyport to obtain my instrument rating, having earned my PPL in my home state of Washington last year. My experience so far has been nothing short of spectacular! Having flown 1970's model 172's with umpteen thousand hours on them, to being able to fly beautiful new Cessna 172's with glass cockpit and autopilot is Great! The entire facility is conducive to learning. The staff and instructors are top notch and customer service is unmatched. I am using my Veterans benefits for my training, and could not be more satisfied. AOPA articles or youtube videos do not do Skyport justice, it has to be seen to believe. Flight training or just stopping by on a cross country or local, you will be impressed!

Fantastic FBO--extremely accommodating--even for a non-corporate Mooney Driver!! First class treatment from initial contact, till the day I left. John, the FBO manager, was extremely helpful for me in my situation: In late December, I had to drop off my Mooney for extended maintenance at SWTA on field. Due to my work schedule I could only arrive over the weekend when SWTA was closed. John made sure I had a hangar to keep my Mooney in overnight and took care of bringing it over to SWTA the next business morning. Then, when similar circumstances arose on the pickup a month later--John took great care of me again. What a relief!! Outstanding service. Redbird Skyport will be my only FBO choice when I fly into San Marcos. Great linemen, fantastic gals at the desks--and did I mention, some of the coolest simulators I've seen for the G/A crowd. Oh, and very reasonable gas prices and a Saturday Brunch too!

Upon landing, I told the ground controller that we were going to Berry Aviation. I got taxi instructions (told to take Alpha to parking) and was chugging along when a "Follow Me" parking vehicle flags me down. Being unfamiliar with the field, and being on taxiway Alpha, I figured it was from Berry. I started following them, and the ground controller asked again where I was going. It turns out the ground crew from Redbird has made it a habit to flag down any plane on the taxiway. The guy at Berry said they'll even try to flag down planes that have "Berry Aviation" written on them. If the ground controller hadn't noticed Redbird was trying to steal my business, I would have unnecessarily gone through my whole shut-down procedure, then had to start back up just to taxi another mile. When it comes to FBO's, you usually can't go wrong. However, I will never ever give my business to Redbird if they chose unethical practices like this.Response from John Koenreich, Manager/Director, Redbird Skyport, Inc. As a world-class facility committed to excellence, it is our goal to provide the best customer service to all our visitors. To that end, it is our policy to greet all aircraft approaching our ramp with a clearly marked "Skyport" follow-me vehicle. It is never our intent to distract or mislead the pilot in command of any aircraft and Mr. Urschel's comments are appreciated. It is our desire to earn Mr. Urschel's future business and invite him to visit us on his next trip to HYI.

Arrived in a Cessna 340 twice today to pick up and drop off pax. Best FBO I've ever experienced. Brand new, less than two weeks old; literally red carpet service. Adam and Moses are pro linemen that really know their stuff. Evelyn, Monica - Thanks for putting up with me! John Koenreich is the nicest FBO manager on the face of this planet. Roger Sharp is on the field and lives up to his last name. Last of my preaching goes like this: If you've ever wanted to fly a full motion sim and didn't think you could afford it think again. I believe they go for $55/hr and they are brand new! Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
