Very friendly folks at the FBO. Had a pleasant experience. The ramp fee was waived with fuel purchase. The maintenance and avionics shop are top notch. Arranged a hotel and transportation to the hotel. Not a 24-hour FBO.

Was on my way home (Louisville, KY) from visiting relatives in northern Wisconsin had to find the nearest airport due to engine problems. The gentleman at the front office was extremely cooperative and compassionate probably from seeing my face as white as a ghost! Also, Mike the senior mech is TOP NOTCH and took care of my engine problems enough to get me home. I even got a call the next day from Mike to make sure I got home safely. A VERY BIG THANK YOU to EVERYONE at Lafayette Aviation! GO BOILERMAKERS!!

Re: My comment from 10/17, I later found out that the $20 parking fee was obligatory that day because I did visit on the Saturday of Homecoming weekend, a very busy day at the airport. Fair enough I thought, and $20 is a small amount compared to the total cost of operating a light airplane; thus I never complained directly or asked for anything in return. In spite of that, Mr. Pittard took the initiative to send a hand written card with a $20 bill inside! This seems to be a business that at least tries to make good even on minor problems such as this. Thanks! I'll try to stop by again sometime.

We flew into LAF on the Friday night before Purdue's homecoming. Our new nephew was in the NICU at a local hospital and we just wanted to stop in for about an hour or so to support family. The staff was wonderful!! They gave us a crew car, directions and were more than helpful. In the midst of several jets with Purdue alums flying in they still made plenty of time for us and made of feel welcome. We will definitely come back.

Arrived KLAF 10/11/10, overnight. Returned to FBO next AM to find my aircraft littered with grass clippings from helicopter operations. There is a helipad right next to the FBO ramp on the east side and a helicopter operator on the west side of the FBO ramp. I spoke with the owner of the FBO about the situation and he was unhelpful. His direct quote was "It's an Airport." My translation: of course you should expect to have your aircraft subjected to helicopter downwash of unknown intensity and littered with debris when parked on our ramp. I spoke with the helicopter operator and was reassured by one of their pilots that there "probably wasn't even enough wind to spin your propellers". I and my pilot wife and the lineman witnessed this amazing statement. I will never stop at this disastrous place again and subject my aircraft to this kind of abuse. The only positive thing I can say is that the lineman offered to wipe the grass clippings off my aircraft. Very reassuring.Response from Jeff Pittard, President, Lafayette Aviation To add clarity to the gentleman's comments with the helicopter problems. He did have a small amount of grass on his aircraft, which was caused by the recently cut, dry grass and down wash from the medical helicopter. He complained to everyone he could find. We apologized ten times over and offered to wash his aircraft and free hangar on his next visit. This did not satisfy him. He called the next day and asked me, the owner, if this had happened before. I said, "No, you are the first to complain." He said, "Am I the first to complain, but it happened before?" I said, "Sir, the very dry grass was just cut, the helicopter flew when we were not here, we are at an airport, what do you want me to do?" To which he said, "I'm ready to write my blog." I just wanted to keep the quotes in context.

They're nice and everything but the automatic $20 landing fee even with a $70+ fuel purchase is downright disappointing.

I had a low oil pressure issue with my Mirage that eventually resulted in having to do an engine change at Layette. Being based in Dallas and doing this remotely could not have worked out better. Top notch maintenance shop that could not have been more professional, zero squawks on return to service. Great service, great maintenance.

This is my fourth visit in 4 years. Service is excellent across the board. Long term line crew and CSR's know their stuff. Good rate at the Holiday Inn which is walking distance to food and bars. Excellent maintence department that "gets it". When asked they topped my O2 in 15 min, I was shocked. Hangar space has always been available when I needed it. Great place to overnight.

Diverted here for weather 12/26/09. They set me up with a cheap one-way rental car to get to Chicago and a bargain hangar price for two weeks. The attendant even offered a lift to Chicago if I needed it, all before knowing I was a Purdue alum. This is a model FBO.

Stopped in for a few days of business. Line crew very helpful. Bought 250 gal of jet. No ramp charges. Fuel price listed on AirNav was without taxes. Bumped it up about .42 cents per gallon. Overall nice experience.

We landed there for our son's graduation in a Dakota Friday. I was debating on paying the hangar fee just in case it stormed. They said they wouldn't charge me if it didn't rain and put it in a hangar. There was a major thunderstorm that night so I was happy to pay the fees ($40 per night for single engine). Plane was ramped and topped when we returned Sunday to fly home. Small fuel discount for MasterCard. Very nice folks.

$10 ramp fee for a 5 minute bathroom break at 9pm local time! Definitely won't be stopping at Lafayette Aviation ever again for cross-country flights!
