Diamond Distributors Announce G1000 Synthetic Vision Technology

Garmin G1000 SVTUS Aero is excited to announce the availability of Garmin Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) for new DA40 Diamond Stars. Garmin's SVT presents a 3D depiction of terrain, obstacles and traffic on the G1000's Primary Flight Display (PFD) so that the avionics panel replicates what pilots would see outside the cockpit on a clear day.

"With Diamond having been the launch platform for the Industry Standard G1000, it is only appropriate that we continue to lead by introducing this most modern of safety enhancements to general aviation," said Peter Maurer, President of Diamond Aircraft. "The technology is incredible, but what is really sensational is the price. Until now, Synthetic Vision of this quality was reserved for military or large jets, and cost several hundred thousand dollars. Garmin truly deserves credit for pioneering such affordable safety enhancements."

DA42 Twin Star for Commercial Pilot and CFI Certifications

DA42 Twin StarAccording to a national FAA Policy document issued this month, airplanes equipped with retractable landing gear, flaps and FADEC — like the DA42 — meet the definition of a complex aircraft and may be used for Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor Certifications.

The operating cost benefits of the DA42, with its fuel efficient turbo-diesel engines and low drag airframe are obvious. Whether the aircraft met the definition of a complex aircraft (flaps, retractable gear and variable pitch propeller) for conducting Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor Certifications, had been an issue. The DA42 engines and propellers are FADEC controlled via a single "power lever", like modern turbine powered aircraft.

"We are very impressed with the FAA's quick response to clarifying existing regulations that were written prior to the availability of FADEC controlled piston engines,” said Chuck Glass, Director of Fleet Sales for Diamond Aircraft. "Diamond currently produces four DA42s per week, with many of them already in flight training operations internationally. We expect that this policy will increase the demand for the DA42 in the USA even more, as flight schools modernize their fleets," he added.

The award winning DA42 is the undisputed piston aircraft technology leader, with all carbon airframe, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit and FADEC controlled turbo-diesel (JET-A1) powerplants.

Diamond Introduces DA40 XLS and Constant Speed

DA40 XLSAt the AOPA Expo, Diamond Aircraft is introduced two new versions of its successful DA40 DiamondStar — the DA40 XLS (top of the line, loaded model with a new Platinum Interior) and the DA40 CS, a capable four-place constant speed version which customers can customize with a range of options to tailor the plane to their individual needs

The DA40 XLS retains all the advantages of the DA40 XL — great visibility, fuel efficiency, and pilot friendly handling characteristics — and now offers more room under a wider, higher canopy. Its Platinum leather interior features a long list of XLS exclusives, including a choice of leather colors, aluminum-framed genuine wood inlay accents, engraved brushed aluminum trim, carbon-fiber sill plates and a distinctive metallic striping package. The WAAS-enabled Garmin G1000 glass cockpit features Garmin FliteCharts and SafeTaxi, and other enhanced software functionality, including an ability to fly auto-pilot coupled procedure turns and hold entries, and to program Victor Airways into flight plans.

The DA40 CS shares all the strengths of the DA40 XLS — and enables customers to configure the airplane to their needs, starting at a competitive base price of $259,950. Customers can choose the attractive, durable fabric interior, or upgrade to luxurious leather. Those looking for comfortable cross-country cruising can add the Garmin GFC 700 digital autopilot, extended luggage compartment, performance landing gear and extended range tanks. All these options make the DA40 CS a great choice for individual owners, as well as for flight schools looking to add modern appeal and technology to their flight line.
