LHV recently refurbished the FBO including a handsome lobby, nice pilot lounge with lots of reading material, and (at the other end of Hangar 1) a flight-planning room and bathroom which are accessible 24/7. The Piper Museum at the approach end of Rwy 9 makes this a very worthwhile destination.

We arrived on Labor Day not aware that they are closed for services and neither was FSS nor was it published in the AFD. Regardless, we were able to get in touch with Ed Watson who graciously came out to top us off and let us use the bathroom and building to eat our take-out. Ray was also there and he helped my wife, two kids and I out by taking us into town to get some take-out, which we enjoyed back at the field. Nice setting sandwiched between the water, hills to the north and south and the city of Lockhaven.

Ed Watson, the airport manager, provided a ride to a nice restaurant and picked us up later at the Piper museum across the field. Walk from restaurant in town to the museum was less than 20 minutes. The lady in the museum was very friendly, kept the museum open for more than 30 minutes past the official time and told us interesting stories about Piper (we are from Vero Beach). Fueling was done as requested, no problems of any kind.

Visiting 6/6/08 en route from HAO to HPN for a fuel stop. I called ahead and told the FBO I would arrive after hours and needed fuel. I was advised of a $20 call out fee. When I landed, Ray topped me off and waived the fee. A cash discount of .05/gallon is offered. Nice people, a historic field with a mountain next to it. I'll be back.

For sentimental reasons having nothing to do with Piper Aircraft (though partly involving a member of the Piper family) I had long wanted to stop in Lock Haven. On 5/16/08 I finally got my chance. After a very challenging flight in solid IMC, an inoperative autopilot and an approach right dow to minimums we were sure glad to get there. What great service, what friendly people. And thanks again, Ed, for turning those lights on when you did!

I flew in for the breakfast on May 4 and had a great time. Asked for and got a top off with 100LL with no problems. Great service. The grass is smooth too.

Great airport to practice both turf and hard-surface transition work, as it has both in excellent condition. One of the best airports in the region - thanks; keep up the great work!

I was in Franklin and needed some instrument charts to proceed much further. Franklin was out and so were several other places. Lock Haven had the en routes I needed, but not the Connecticut plates, but the person who answered the phone asked which approaches I needed and had them downloaded and printed for me when I arrived, for free! On top of that, they were extremely helpful and friendly in every other way and made me a very happy visitor. I will definitely be back in the future, both to visit the Piper museum which I've always wanted to see, and as a simple along-the-way stop where I know there's friendly folks. Well done!

My wife and I stopped in with our Piper Comanche 180 during Sentimental Journey this year for an overnight. Everyone was great! The rental car was there and Ed Watson made us feel right at home. This is a class act operation with a very down to earth hometown feel. Keep up the great work and we will see you again soon!

First trip back 28 yrs after working one summer as a college engineering student. The hospitality we received was top notch. Highly recommend a visit. We were met on the flight line after shutting down with offers of a ride into town, recommendations for lunch, and a lift to the Piper Aviation Museum. We accepted a lift into town for lunch, walked back to the museum and called Ed for a ride back to the FBO. The museum is a work in progress but definitely worth the visit.

What a thrill to land at such an historic airport! Equally thrilling was to purchase fuel from such a friendly, fast, and thoroughly responsive FBO. These are the kind of people that make aviating great!

Service was OK if not the friendliest around. Just don't plan on stopping here early for fuel; they open late on Saturday and later on Sunday.

Response from Ed Watson, William T. Piper Memorial Airport
Our regular weekend hours are 10 AM - 6 PM Saturday and Sunday. Weekday hours Monday through Friday are 8 AM - 7 PM. If you arrive early, or later than posted business hours, and need fuel, call (570) 748-9267, 295-7952 or 800-224-7511. Someone can accommodate your needs, but a $20 call out fee will apply. If you arrive between our regular hours, and find that we are not open for business (major holidays and adverse weather conditions the exception), we will pay you $20 for the inconvenience of waiting.

This was my 3rd stop here, the staff was so nice. Free shuttle to town which has a lot to see and do, don't forget the Piper museum. Really take the time to stop here and check it out. Good fuel prices also.

Flew in to visit the Piper Museum. The airport manager, Ed, drove me over to the museum, picked me up when I was ready, drove me into town for lunch (even offered me a cash loan should the restaurant not take credit), and back to the airport. Great, friendly place with some superb scenery. Well worth the visit.

Nice airport with a friendly staff. They drove my family and me into town for lunch on our stopover.

We landed here May 1, 2007, and what a fortunate experience for us. The service was excellent, the fuel was the cheapest on our trip and it is a beautiful old strip and adjacent town. They took us to our hotel, recommended an excellent restaurant and picked us up the next morning! 5 star service.
