I recently flew my Mooney into Lompoc Airport to buy some 100 LL fuel. After inserting my bank debit card, I pressed the Fill Up button. I then bought 45 gallons of fuel with no problem. After arriving home, I went on-line to my bank and found the fuel purchase showed up as a $5000 pending debit! That's right . . . 5000 dollars! I called the airport manager and he could not speed up the transaction to show the actual dollar amount. I had to wait several days for my bank to adjust the pending debit to the actual purchase. In the mean time, I could not use my debit card for any other purchases. So, beware when using the Fill Up button on any self-serve pump.

I land at the Lompoc airport from time to time and find it to be an enjoyable place to stop. The fuel prices are very good, pilot briefing room and restrooms are always clean, and the people I have met at the airport have all been very friendly. I will go back again. Keep up the good work Lompoc.

Informed by tower at SMX on this past Friday that LPC self serve NOT IN SERVICE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE for 100LL, so not worth flying there and having a fuel issue or being surprised. Apparently, there was a problem with the fuel pump and only Jet-A is available and Lompoc until the 100LL pump gets recertified.
