They found a new restaurant tenant for the airport! The word is the restaurant will be open February 15th. I learned to fly at this airport and have been based here almost 10 years. You'll find an easy to use self serve fuel pump and a friendly staff here. Taylor Aviation has been my airplanes maintenance shop for almost 10 years. Phil and his crew are very knowledgeable and professional and I trust them with all my maintenance needs. Take Flight Aviation has well seasoned, experienced instructors to meet all your flight training needs.

Flew in to check-out Rick's Runway Cafe on Saturday, December 3, 2011 only to find out it is now CLOSED, and the airport is looking for a new client to take the business. Decided to visit the fueling building and talked with, I believe his name was, Mike. An older fellow who was fun to chat with. The building has a snack machine and coffee maker, with coffee packs you purchase from the snack machine. Fuel was reasonably priced, though we did not purchase any. Airport apron was very empty without the restaurant there, but a few folks were buying fuel though. All in all, always a nice, big airport to land at just for kicks, and for relatively low priced fuel. I hope they find someone to take over the restaurant, because that will bring back the aircraft!!!

Flew there yesterday and Rick's Cafe is closedResponse from Grant W. Sussey, Director of Aviation, Orange County Airport The airport cafe has closed as of October 31, 2011. The airport is looking for a new cafe operator to take over operations soon. Keep checking for updates. New drink, coffee and snack machines have been installed and are available in the Operations Building (white building next to the café.) Lists are posted of local Restaurants in the Village of Montgomery, within a 2-mile walking distance. Menus of restaurants that deliver are available at the Operations Counter. Thank you Rick for your improvements and services over the last 6 years, we wish good luck to you and your family.

I have been to Rick's Cafe many times and each time I am there the staff gets ruder. This must be the owner and her daughter as no employee could get away with this for very long. Food is just ok but the service is abusive!!! I will never return!

I just stopped by MGJ for lunch today and had a great experience. The Unicom gave good directions to the ramp where we parked directly across from Rick's Flight Line Cafe. The food was good and it was an easy in and out. We didn't take fuel, but the FBO is right next to the parking had we needed it. I would recommend this as a good $100 hamburger destination.

I retract my previous poor experience. There was some miscommunication. The fuel is still priced very well for the Northeast! The manager, Grant, came out and talked to me today when I fueled. He made everything right, and I really appreciate it. It's a great fuel stop, and very nice airport. Thanks again, Grant

Today (3/22/2011) we flew to MGJ with no reserves to buy their cheap Jet A. When we pulled up to the pump we were shocked to see the price had jumped $1.25 to $4.54/gallon (Self Serve), even though AirNav was still advertising $3.30. Needless to say we would not have flown in had we known this. When I tried to see what they could do for us, the manager was nowhere to be seen, nor could he be reached by phone. I would rate this experience as very poor! We can buy fuel for $4.50 at a lot of places, and we don't have to pump it ourselves...

The self-serve Jet A price is the best in the Northeast! The self-serve pump is very fast, can pump 250 gallons in about 10 minutes or so, and then you're on your way. This is a great place to stop for fuel.

.. Eh.. There's not much here. The airport can get busy with touch and go traffic. Keep a keen eye on your altimeter setting, there are rolling hills near by. Self-Serve fuel seems to be the most popular - Rick's Cafe is pretty good- CASH ONLY under $20.00!! Otherwise no real "FBO" per say...

Had a flat nose tire upon landing. No maintenance services available on Sunday, but the airport ops fellow did his best to offer whatever help he could. Drove us over to the restaurant while we waited for a mechanic to be ferried over from our FBO (luckily not too far away). The restaurant was excellent- roomy, brightly lit, and good food at affordable prices.

Nice facility. Rick's food was very good, service very friendly but not efficient. BEWARE: fuel services at Orange County KMGJ were unavailable after 5 PM and the self-service did not work. When I called the number indicated for assistance on the self service machine I got a recorded message saying they were not available. Had to make a quick stop over to KSWF in a low fuel situation to get back home.
