Landed after hours. Convenient pre-arrangement to borrow courtesy car - very much appreciated! Country Inn was recommended with great rate for pilots. Due to some event, it was full, as were all the hotels in that area. Ruby Tuesday next door was busy also. Stayed instead at Econlodge for 59.00, but it was extremely run down, although clean. Ate at the Chestnut Grill, which was very nice and very good food.

Overall a very nice airport-- Pros: Ron and crew do an excellent job -- Airport is very well kept -- Nice courtesy car, pilot lounge with TV and WiFi -- Fuel Prices average for area and services --- Cons: Hard to reliably activate airport lighting during daylight hours, it might be on when you breakout but might not. Keying mike much slower than other airports seems to help -- No GPU for jets and turboprops -- As of yet no LPV GPS minimums

I dropped in last Friday on a flight from Vero Beach to Winston-Salem to visit my daughter. Winston-Salem was down to minimums and I wanted to make sure I had adequate fuel. Orangeburg was an excellent choice to stop and top off. When I arrived, there were two airplanes at the self-serve pump in front of me and one behind me. Their prices, while not the absolute cheapest in the area, are cheap enough. The facilities are new, clean and beautiful. The staff could not be more helpful. Personnel were eager to assist at the self-serve to the point where it was almost full serve. The terminal building is almost directly across from the self-serve pump, making it an easy walk for passengers. The facilities themselves are new and clean. As my daughter will be in Winston-Salem for the next four years, I will be stopping here many times in the future. One of the best and cleanest facilities at which I have had the pleasure of stopping.

Caution: Pilots arriving IFR during daylight hours and low visibility be aware that the runway lighting system is sometimes turned off. Consider all airport lighting INOP during daylight hours.
