The card reader at OWX is for airport issued fuel cards, which are billed monthly. It looks like a standard credit card reader but is not one.

Used KOWX as a transfer airport for LifeLine Pilot airlift transfer. (11/5/06). Arrived at 11:30AM and found no one there. Pumps did not accept credit cards, and no bathroom facilities. (Bldg Closed). Not a wise choice for Angel Flight transfers.

Flew in for dinner over at the Red Pig Inn on Memorial Day 2006. Plenty of tie downs. No other transient aircraft around and the fuel pump don’t appear to take credit cards. It says to insert cards but it also says that it doesn't accept credit cards. Still trying to figure that one out! The airport manager is very helpful and offered use of the courtesy car if we needed it (which we didn't).

We stopped in for fuel and bought some snacks from the machine, and the owner offered us a pizza (microwave) on the house. Very friendly with good service. We checked the weather on their computer before continuing East, as we arrived IFR. Nice place to stop.
