Stopped for fuel --- $5 a gallon, which is pretty high for self-service. "Fly Shack" was literally that: Dead wasps and spiders on the floor at every window. Bathroom filthy and no soap available. Entire place hadn't been cleaned in months. Fuel Pump worked okay. This was the worst stop on my entire 2, 400 mile round trip. I won't make the KPHP mistake again.

Landed on 31 Jul for a break and top-off. While unrolling the fuel hose a connector unthreaded and about 11 gal of fuel sprayed out before my wife hit the emergency switch! We then used the crew car to go get something to eat and on our return they had it fixed (?). The city did send me a check for the spilled fuel.

Stopped for fuel and food on a Sunday afternoon on the way home from Oshkosh. Fuel pump had a bad joint and was spraying 100LL on the ground - lost about a cup of fuel that way. PLEASE FIX THIS SAFETY HAZARD! Courtesy car keys are located in the pilot lounge - just a beat up old Dodge Ram - it got us into town for a slider at the only diner that was still open on Sunday. Lots of crickets, no one else at the airport.

Place was hot, dry and deserted when we got there late morning. No access to the FBO that we could tell so we had to rough it on our break. Fuel was available $4.90 /gal though and it made a good fuel stop on our way by Mt. Rushmore and up to Spearfish. No other services available so be forewarned.

Nice stop. Runways are fine. Try the sod runway for fun. 24 hour gas and bathroom there. Courtesy vehicle if you need it...you get the keys from the police after a phone call. Neat small airport.

June 20th 2009 - Apparently they didn't pay their water bill. Don't stop for a bathroom break - no running water! This was the highest priced gas we paid between VA and MT this June. They were advertising $4.10 when we stopped, but it was $5. Call ahead! Wonder if their phone works?
