People and facilities were very nice. Helped with rental car and hotel. Corporate jet arrived at same time we did in our C172. FBO provided equal attention to both aircraft. Very nice people. Would definitely use them again.
Response from Mandy Watenpool, Sheltair Aviation Services St. Petersburg-Clearwater Thank you, Paula Burchenal! We look forward to seeing you on your next trip to St. Petersburg!

I fly in and out of Sheltair / PIE often and I have always had a great experience. The line personnel are all very exceptional - they're always careful handling the airplane and always very friendly. This FBO is consistently among the very, very best......
Response from Mandy Watenpool, Sheltair Aviation Services St. Petersburg-Clearwater Mr. Burkdoll, thank you for taking the time comment. SheltAir greatly values our customers' opinions.

Good service but over-charged. Was told in advance by phone that parking would be $12.00. Didn't discover until returning home that I was charged $25.00. When I called to correct the problem, they promised to check and get back to me. Never heard from them. Beware!

Stayed March 17 to 21st, great experience. They hangared my C-182 for a reasonable fee and were very professional. Made reservations for the type car I requested. I highly recommend them and the St. Pete airport as a gateway to the greater Tampa area.

Arrived 9:30 pm, Saturday, Feb 16, after a ten hour, three-leg trip from Michigan in our Skyhawk. We'd called from previous stop to be sure our rental car would be at the FBO when we arrived. Not only was it there, but also it was driven up to our plane practically before we had shut down. Pleasant people and great service. Fuel a little pricey, but their $.50/gal discount for topping off helped, and they did save us a significant bundle on the rental car. We'll definitely be back.

1/24/08 just flew up from FMY to go to Bill Jackson sports to get a few things for our ski trip. I was greeted on the ramp with all smiles. I had planned to come up the Sunday before and had a dead battery so I called to tell them I could not make it. I did not call the day I did showed up and the girl at the front desk remembered me from a phone call 4 days earlier. Borrowed the courtesy car got the supplies and got the Archer topped off all in less than an hour. I always buy fuel anywhere I stop not only to support FBO business, but I was taught fuel on the ground would never help you in the air. I will never go anywhere else at PIE,

Good service and less expensive than the other FBO. I like the $0.50 discount for topping off.

Planned our stop at PIE and had read comments about Sheltair. Emailed Mr. Craft with a few questions and he promptly had a CSR email me. Sheltair arranged for our rental car and motel. Upon arrival, we were met by 4 line guys (Dan and 3 others) who had already pulled the rental car up to the plane. Our bags were off loaded for us. The plane was carefully parked with the big guys. The service at Sheltair (especially by Dan and the 3 line guys and Dianna) is superior. How could anyone post a negative? The fuel was discounted .50/gallon for topping off. The overnight rate was reasonable. To top that, Starbuck's coffee is available. I would definitely return to Sheltair. Mr. Craft, this is a top-notch operation you have. THANKS DAN, DIANNA, AND ALL!!!!! Gerry and Lisa Mosley, N821GM-the finest Apache anywhere!!!

Sheltair provided great service during our 3 day stay in St Petersburg. Max greeted us with a friendlly smile and took great care of our Piper Archer upon arrival. Rick went the extra mile prior to our departure in carefully cleaning our "soot" covered windshield. Good deal on a very nice rental car and friendly/helpful staff to the pilot of a small GA airplane. Will definitely return.

I recently used the Sheltair facility for the first time. Upon arrival, I parked at the door and their employees unloaded our luggage. Then one of their office staff used her personal car to take my wife to another area of the airport to get a rent car. When we returned to the airport three days later, I was pleased to find my plane had been tied down during our absence. I also liked the $0.50 per gallon discount I received for topping my tanks. They have a great facility that I'll use again when stopping at KPIE.

Sheltair continues to raise the bar for FBO's. We spent two hours waiting for passengers to arrive (C90) and were treated very well: efficient folks, beautiful facility, new and crew car.

If you're a big jet the guys are all over you (for tip money) otherwise the service is slow. Arrived first but if some bigger aircraft arrives you're pushed to last to get fueled even with prearranged fuel. They have broken my towbar over 10 times now in the past three months mishandling my aircraft and do not even offer to pay for the repairs or take better care of customer equipment If I had a say so I would move elsewhere. Flying to other SheltAir FBO's always charged full price for fuel in spite of company policy of $1.00 off fuel to use other SheltAir FBO's that day.
Response from Tom Craft, General Manager PIE We recently have had conversations with Brent and have come to a resolution to set new procedures on how to handle the Augusta tow bar. Regarding the SheltAir Aviation policy between locations, the only policy in place is when an aircraft purchases the required minimum gallons at one location the ramp fee should be waived at all the other locations for that same day only. With regards to a fuel discount between locations, the SheltAir policy is that each base is to negotiate their own fuel discounts. Your home base at PIE would be more than happy to contact and assist to pre arranged fuel discount for another location.

Stopped at SheltAir (PIE) on 8/15/06. I was only there for a few hours. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I purchased 100 gal of Jet A (4.95 per-Ouch) but no ramp or landing fee. Good cookies!!

Dropped by with my CJ, was given polite upbeat service, and found the fees/prices competitive with any other large FBO corporation around. They were hosting a "safety BBQ" in honor of one month of safety, which I find to be an excellent display of management. I was also serviced/marshaled out by newly trained line staff who seemed to know my jet better than I did. I recommend any and all Sheltair Facilities, as they're full of personality.

We visited SheltAir PIE a few months back in our Hawker 800XP. Despite some of the negative comments here, our experience was excellent as it has been with all SheltAir FBOs that we frequent. I have received nothing but positive, prompt service during my visits to SheltAir and PIE was no exception.

I flew into KPIE and brought my plane to SheltAir to be tied down for 3 days. They told me that they were busy and asked if it was ok to tie my plane down in the grass (its a C172). I said fine. When I returned the winds were blowing at 30mph gusting to 35 and I found my plane sitting between 2 jets with the nose wheel and 1 main chocked. The staff did not tie it down at all and the chock under the main gear was to big so my wheel pant was resting on it and supporting the weight of the plane. These guys are an insurance company's worst nightmare. I would not let them wash my windows. STAY AWAY
Response from Tom Craft, G.M.- SheltAir PIE. Dear Mr. Rittenberry: Thank you for taking the time to comment. The line service did inform you that we were busy and we had no tie down spots available on the asphalt and we would have to tie your aircraft down in the grass. When they started to proceed to the grass, this is where the line service supervisor noticed that the aircraft had wheel pans that were inches from the ground. At that point he decided he didn't want to risk damaging the wheel pans by taking the aircraft off the smooth surface. At the time the line service technicians made this decision, the winds were not that strong and chose to leave it on the smooth surface double chocked. Our company policy to chock a single engine aircraft is to chock both mains. Due to the circumstances, we chocked the nose wheel and one of the mains with the smallest set of wooden chocks we have. Obviously the weight of the aircraft was not on the wheel pan and chock because the wheel pan wasn't damaged.

Worth every cent. Plenty of ramp fee and expensive fuel but it is not like your passengers or company is dirt poor if you're flying around in a Lear 35 so we will be back.

Arrived here on new years day 2006 in our 172 and left the plane for a week. Very friendly staff both on the ramp and in the FBO. Parking was $15/day but they waived the ramp fee. Fuel was a bit expensive but we asked for a bag of oranges (ostensibly reserved for the kerosene crowd) and the girl on the desk gave it to us! Thanks! We'll be back!

The place to stop at PIE. The desk staff is top notch, the ramp personnel are some of the best at any airport. What more can I say except thanks for a great stay.
