We are a brand new flight training and aviation services business located at Pierce County Airport / Thun Field. Our mission is to provide quality flight training to the South Puget Sound. We are currently the only operator of the Redbird FMX 1000 (a full motion flight simulator) in the State of Washington that is open to the public. The Redbird FMX allows the students to keep progressing in their training without the risks of being "Weathered-out". This allows the consistency that is needed to complete your flight ratings without interruption, which is key to the success of all pilots.
The advanced technology that we use is also balanced with the introduction of our 1939 J3 Cub. We have not forgotten about the importance to teach a pilot "stick and rudder" skills, and the Cub is the perfect airplane for just that.
For Multi-Engine and advanced ratings, we are able to utilize the king of the twin trainers, the Cessna 310. This airplane is meant to teach the pilot how to ADVANCE his rating, rather than just "checking a box." Coupled with the Redbird FMX simulator, the student gets the student the most value for the money spent on the training. Our Multi-Engine training is conducted by one of the most experienced Twin-Cessna and Twin-Piper instructors in the area. He has served as an instructor and checkairman for a local Part 135 cargo airline and brings his experience to us! SIM Flight Center has also been awarded the Av-gas contract at KPLU, and we intend on bringing competitive prices to our airport! With this addition, pilots will find some added services to the existing fuel service. We are adding compressed air to the fuel island, improving the equipment in place, and adding high flow pumps (more to come in addition to this).
As we continue to grow, we look forward to meeting existing pilots and creating new ones. Aviation should be fun and safe, and that is what we intend to deliver!
Fly Safe!

I am writing in regard to the great service I have experienced recently at Safety in Motion. After the revamping of the fuel island, and the addition of the new hoses and static reels, fueling my airplane has become extraordinarily easy. The extras of window wash, towels, functioning ladders and even a cold drink have been appreciated as well. More importantly, the competitive fuel prices are what keep me fueling my two aircraft at your facility. KPLU has a nice facility with the most inexpensive fuel in 50 miles and the restaurant is next to the fuel pumps and tie-downs. We will be back soon.

An excellent training device. I would highly recommend training on this simulator. Quality instruction at a reasonable price. This simulator fills a huge void for the General Aviation pilot-- from VFR and IFR operation training to emergency procedures- this simulator offers it all. Definitely recommend to improve your skills and maintain your IFR proficiency

My first time in any Simulator, they gave me a free demo and a warm welcoming once through the doors. Very nice building, well organized and up to date on anything aviation related. Worth the price, and very friendly people. Can't wait to go back.
