Strong crosswinds favored Red Oak as a refueling stop on long XC flight (USE-GXY). Facilities excellent, no issues with self serve, prices current.

A-1 Experience, I called from the air to see how late they would be open, Gail called me back to let me know they would be closed after 5:00 pm and offered the Crew Car for transportation to the Hotel listed by ForeFlight, The Red Coach Inn, a great place. When I arrived in my newly purchased Husky (1st trip, taking it him) Gail was on site and offered space in the hangar. I followed him in the crew car to the hotel. Several hours later I was looking for my headset and thought I had lost it, he had given me his cell phone number and met me at the airport to located my Bose A20, it was neatly wrapped up in the case and sitting in the plane. I doubt I would have slept well without knowing where it was. Gail is an "above and beyond" kind of guy. The fuel prices and facilities are top notch!

Great little airport. Easy in and out. Very clean terminal & restrooms. After-hours lobby and restrooms on the left side of the main hangar. Self-service fuel facility has excellent access and the CC machine is easy to use. Prices are as posted on AirNav & remain one of the best prices for fuel in Iowa. Good flight planning computer in daytime terminal and a spacious pilot lounge. There's a loaner car for a run into town for food or supplies. Soft Drinks, candy bars & Snacks are available in the refrigerator in the kitchen. Great stop!

Overnighted here on a trip from Calif. and found a first class operation. Gail had a hangar available, courtesy car, and a great lodging recommendation. Prices are the best around for fuel, etc. This is a top notch stop, nice airport, and nice people.

Great place to land and get gas! Very nice FBO and an extremely helpful group of local pilots. One of the flight instructors there even offered me a courtesy car and helping hand fueling my Mooney. It's places like this that remind me why it is so fun to fly GA.

On a long cross-country, I called ahead and arranged for the courtesy call to be available after hours to get to the Super8. It was ready to go when I landed around 8PM. Fuel price was excellent. The next morning the friendly airport manager Gail double-checked to see if everything had gone OK. Nice, friendly airport. Good place to stop for the night.

Our favorite fuel stop between Fort Collins, CO and the Midwest. This stop was special as we found out the terminal is being renamed in honor of Norm Yeager, long time local pilot, instructor, and all around great guy at Red Oak. Congratulations, Norm!

Very nice airport with friendly folks. Gas price is very competitive with nice self-service facilities. I did not utilize the FBO but they did offer me a courtesy car. I will return frequently.

As the other users have commented, this airport is a gem. I flew in there with my RV-7 on my way from Cheyenne to Detroit on a Friday afternoon and was really impressed with the amount of service in Iowa. Very friendly people. Gail (I believe it was) noticed we were snacking on a few chips and soda in the lounge (reasonable prices, btw) - and said we were welcome to take the courtesy car into town if we felt like something more substantial. My girlfriend couldn't say yes fast enough, and we were off to find a sandwich. HIGHLY recommended on a X-C to stop in and see for yourself! I'll be back if Red Oak is even 50 miles off my routing!
