On arrival at SFY as I taxied in - I could feel the right main tire losing air. Before I got to the ramp we were on the rim. It was 10pm and I did not want to leave her on the runway. I was able to get the plane on the ramp. I called Dale Brown from the plane and was told that there wasn't any mechanic on the field. I knew I had a long day in the am. As it turned out everyone on the field could not have been nicer. Dale met me at Poopy's with a phone number of a mechanic at Freeport. Scott gave me several numbers of pilots who had jacks for planes. Darrell from Freeport came to the airport in the am with a tire and tube. Dale stayed with us until the job was complete. It turned out not to be a bad day and I met several new folks that really went made a bad situation good. Thanks SFY.

Ok - took me 4 days to get a hold of someone connected to the airport. - I was told that the phone lines were down but just in case I am putting some other numbers down. There is no hangar space to put a Cirrus in during a snow storm - there is a plug but you have to bring your own extension cords for a preheater - no crew car - you can rent from JC Carrie (he was GREAT) Automotive - 815-273-2296 - airport manager - 815-275-2294 - Super 8 (owned by a person on the airport board) - 815-273-2288. They do not have wireless in the pilot lounge (which is marginal at the best) - but they do at the big building off the flight line. That’s about it - everyone seemed real nice but if you have to do business in the area (as we do) it is a marginal airport.

I stopped in on April 13, and the pumps wouldn't approve my credit card. I could not buy either 100LL or the Mogas. I am pretty sure my credit card is OK. This is the second time I have not been able to refuel here (one time years ago they were out of gas). Not a reliable fuel stop!

No obvious restroom facilities. After 6 of our 7 pilots watered the airport manager's hangar, he came out to tell us the restroom was "down and around the corner" Pilot #7 couldn't find the suggested restroom after a 10 minute search, nor could we find the manager again, so he watered the hangar too. Sorry. :) Looks like a nice place to visit.

LOVE THAT MOGAS!! Flew in with the Keystone Flight of the Cessna 150 Club of America...Topped off with fine MOGAS! Keep the pump there - great way to keep general aviation alive and well! Mike Marra, Keystone Flight of Central PA. N714AJ
