Great airport and GREAT FBO! Have been in to SHD several times while building the new football stadium at JMU and the folks at SHD make this one of my favorite destinations. Addressing a couple of "negatives" from previous comments -- very good food can be found in Grottoes - about a 5 min ride in the crew car. Coffee isn't "out there" but they always make me a pot when I want some. Thanks!

Nice airport with limited facilities. Without the restaurant, we needed to find food elsewhere, and the nearest available was a Subway. Security is pretty tight, more so than some Class Cs we have visited. Clean, fairly economical. Will visit again.

I flew in during light rain in a small experimental aircraft. The line guy opened a big hangar, then pulled the airplane inside so that I did not have to get wet. Wow! I by no means expected anything like that at all. I was very impressed.

Great service, nice FBO, nice crew car. NOTE: the restaurant on the field is closed until the spring of 2011.

Excellent service from arrival to departure. Everything we asked for was provided with a smile. Great job.

Great airport in the valley with a excellent FBO and a nice crew car that you can use for two hours - plenty of time to drive up to the caverns and take the tour (recommended).

Very nice field with wide open approaches and a long runway. A good choice if you're flying up or down the valley.

Caution if you are there on a weekend. The people are real nice, but they had one guy staffing the whole place until 0900 last Sunday morning. With the restricted access they have there, about ten people were waiting to be allowed out onto the ramp to access their airplanes when I got there at 0730. Also, my aircraft was not refueled when I got there as I had requested, delaying my departure.

Good solid service.... From the first phone call to settling the bill. Everyone I encountered had a professional can-do attitude.

Stopped twice for fuel. Great airport with a superb terminal and line service. Thanks!

Visited twice as a fuel stop. Top rate facilities, the FBO staff gave out several airport advisories on the way in, and both times called US on the radio to see what services we would be needing when we arrived. Restaurant was closed for some reason when we arrived around 5pm on a Monday.

Landed with a fuel leak problem in my Beech 18. Received great assistance from Classic Aviation on the field. Had a great lunch at the cafe on the field. And then got back on our trip. Thanks all!

Flew down from KMMU to visit friends. Chris parked us and gave us a ride to the terminal. Mr. S. Smith was at the desk and was very friendly. The terminal was nice but lacked the coffee pot for those who need their "Caffeine-Fix".

Needed to make a sudden landing here at night due to incoming weather and plane difficulties. One line guy was a cheery spot in an otherwise rotten day. Took care of basics while I de-stressed. Less than impressed with Hertz rent-a-car service and feel I got ripped off by them but they had it and I needed it. Very nice FBO and a wonderful little airport.
