They should call Albert Whitted the "Little Big Airport." You get the best of both worlds here. Big airport features like the great guys in the tower, instrument approaches, approach and departure assistance from Tampa, Bay Air's superb full service maintenance facility, St. Pete Avionics, Pilot Mall and the Hangar restaurant (great breakfasts!). And yet the airport has that small field feeling: scenic approaches, friendly folks, cheapest gas at a towered field you'll find and an easy walk to downtown St. Pete. The way GA was meant to be. I feel lucky to be able to call Whitted home.

Great location. I had business downtown on a Monday and flew in on Sunday- got a "Sunday Special" fuel discount of .20/gallon. Nice facility and friendly people, my plane was fueled and ready for me when I was ready to leave- overnight parking fee waived because of fuel purchase. I will definitely return.

This was my first 100 dollar burger flight into SPG and the first time flying into the St Pete area. The Hangar restaurant was excellent. Highly recommend the chicken and waffles, as for the service at the FBO, it was OK. The kid behind the counter was not happy to be there and seemed annoyed if you asked him anything. The flight planning room was loud as heck. One pilot was watching wrestling or some MMA fight and kept yelling at the TV. I don't know, maybe I'm being very critical about this place but I've been to other FBO's during my flight training that treated us a whole lot better than this place.

Great experience at this FBO. Fuel was reasonable and with 5 gallon purchase they waive the ramp fee. Prompt service from the lineman and they had me tied down and fueled in no time. Checking out was a breeze as they had my ticket ready to go. I highly recommend this FBO.

Just got back from SPG. St. Petersburg Flying Service has to be one of the finest FBO's I have been to in a long time. Great service, glad to have you here atmosphere, and comfortable surroundings. I think that they are the only FBO on the field, but they don't have that take it or leave it attitude. Thanks guys.

As of Feb 16, 2011 the FBO will no longer waive its ramp fee--$15 or a minimum 5 gal fuel purchase-- for aircraft parking for the Hangar Cafe restaurant.

Was here with 2 C-172s for 2 weeks for work, We needed fuel everyday and they were always right on top of it even when we landed in the middle of the day and they were busy they had a fuel truck pretty much waiting for us. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, we appreciate it very much. Thanks!!!

Arrived for a Rays game and the entire staff was excellent. First class service all around. Be sure to budget time for lunch/dinner upstairs, it’s by far the best 'airport restaurant' around.

Great service and very friendly staff. Staff member drove me to my hotel without charge and offered to pick me up at 6:00AM the next morning. FBO and field are in great shape. They took great care of my Cirrus.

Visited the new FBO at SPG today to report on interesting places to visit for a free online aviation magazine and the service was first class. The restaurant is coming in March 2010 and will have a superb view over the airport. Great place, great staff and great service!

Flew into KSPG for the AOPA Summit in early November and received great service from St. Petersburg Flying Service. The facilites are first class. The Avis car rental agency did a great job of coming up with a nice car on very short notice, and they're very conveniently located right in the terminal building. We stayed at the Bilmar Beach Resort at Treasure Island (about 10 mi. away) and enjoyed a nice beachfront condo. At a reasonable price. Will return when next in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about Bay Air. I came to them after a bump in my flight training. Peter Flynn is a great instructor, and was able to turn me around and help me reach my goal of becoming a pilot. Thanks Peter! I have come to know most of the crew there. You will not find a nicer, more professional, and truly caring bunch of people anywhere! Steven behind the counter is all over it; I have never seen him miss a beat! He will go out of his way to accomodate you, and is a true asset to the company. As far as everything else: Rental rates are the cheapest I have seen, Fuel is cheap!!!, Mike in the ATC is AWESOME, the new FBO is clean... What else could you ask for? Make it a point to stop at this airport, and experience it all for yourself.

C-180, Flew into St. Pete on 8 August and stayed overnight. I'm always impressed with the customer service. Marshalled me to parking and even shuffled two other aircraft to give my taildragger a more solid tail tie-down due to forecast severe thunderstorms that night. Fuel price is always a bit steep. I'll continue to return.

Flew into SPG Sunday, 7-12-09. St. Petersburg Flying Service is great. They courteously met me, and offered transportation to downtown attractions. I'll return there often.

Flew in on May 24th and stayed for a few hours. The FBO building looks very new and they're putting in a restaurant or something upstairs, as that space is still empty. Everybody was very friendly and the facilities are in clean shape, but it would have been nice had they been able to call a cab for us. N17386.

Flew in Mother's Day to visit family in St. Pete. Neat approach to runway 7 over the rooftops and departure from 18 over the pier. Tampa approach was very helpful giving us service and clearance into bravo coming and going. Fifteen-dollar ramp fee was waiver with 5-gallon fuel purchase. Facility and staff was very nice. A very nice stop.

Flew in with a Seneca, had a tire bursting right after landing. It was Saturday, around 7 pm. Plane was pulled to the maintenance, they called a few mechanics and got one to come to the airport and fix our problem. We were offered free water and coffee in the meantime. 45 minutes later, plane was fixed and ready to go, and we were charged NO FEES (except the repair costs). Outstanding service, thank you very very much guys!
