Gus is correct, if you fly a piston or a single engine aircraft, you will get second rate service. I was flying an executive in this year in a piston twin. Today we were parked football fields down the ramp. I have flown into SSI in several small and midsize jets over the years and received good service. Not always timely, but good nonetheless. I also had pretty good service, and a slow quick turn, when I stopped in for fuel from Jekyll last year in the same piston twin, when it was my son and I Unfortunately my executive's transportation was delayed also, not the GIA's issue, but I think it worked out better because the long, slow taxi gave the driver time to show up. Perhaps its different management, but either way, if you are not buying kerosene expect poor/2nd class service. They seem to do quite a bit of business, I would sure prefer to have another option on the field.

Response from Larry Wade, President, Golden Isles Aviation
Mr. Kindling, I'm very sorry you didn't feel as though you got the service you desired. My apologies to you. I'm half owner and FBO Gen Mgr for 31 years and hate hearing ANY negative comments, but truly appreciate knowing areas where we need to improve. We are indeed in our very busiest season, March/April, with turbines during this time, usually being more "sleepy". We do lead pistons down the ramp at this time so they are not intermingled with the turbines. We used to mingle them together but damage occurred to a smaller aircraft due to blast, so we learned our lesson of ramp management/aircraft safety. We strive to meet EVERY aircraft to park/greet/serve. At times we can get busy while serving during a peak. We don't charge single and light twin pistons facility/day ramp fees, only very reasonable overnight fees, which also can be waived with a small purchase. Please forgive our shortcomings to you. It will make us strive even harder. Thanks for your comments and visit.

Flew in mid December of 2017 and had to leave the Bonanza for a couple of weeks due to weather. Met some wonderful people who work at Golden Isles who went out of their way to be helpful. A first class operation with genuine people who will become your friends! Thank you.

New FBO building has a hotel attached. Line personnel are great. Stopped for one overnight: choice of buying 15 gallons of FS fuel, or $20 ramp fee. For me, it was cheaper to pay the ramp fee due to the cost of the FS avgas. If you're staying for more than a day or two, I would suggest a car rental from a more single-engine friendly airport.

Beautiful new FBO. Great service, marshaled to a tie down, golf cart to help us unload and very helpful folks. Cannot say enough nice things about the people. Only negative is fuel is slightly pricey and overnight fees, but first night waived with fuel purchase. Uber is plentiful and if you are staying at The King and Prince they will send a shuttle to pick you up. Great stop, great location, and one of the few places where there is no tower and I was flying in the pattern with a Falcon jet and a Citation in my PA-32RT-300.

I stop here regularly to see a retired Navy pal and for the BBQ at Southern Soul. The FBO is beyond fantastic. These folks rock the house on customer service - I highly recommend them. Stop here - you will not be disappointed ! A++ Service & Staff.
From Arthur Ahrens on 31-May-2017

Outstanding facility, friendly desk folks, great line workers. Really appreciate having a cold car waiting for us on a very hot day. Flew in in a Mooney, but treated like a bizjet. Could not have been easier. Great Job!

We landed here in our Phenom 100 from KAPF for 2 overnights staying at the Cloisters Hotel for a golf retreat. The staff was very friendly and the new building beautiful! It just opened three months ago. They have a minivan and Ford Expedition for crew cars, which are helpful, the hotel is only 4 miles away. We will be back here at this FBO again in about 6 months. Thanks!
From Doug Garrou on 11-Apr-2017

Stopped here several times now on trips to/from Florida. Gas isn't the cheapest but it's fairly reasonable considering the location. Facility is first rate and includes car rental counters. The FBO operations are run like clockwork by competent and friendly folks. It's pitched more toward the turbine crowd but we didn't feel slighted. BBQ place, which is in easy walking distance, is EXCELLENT. New hotel on the field will make it a good spot for WX diversions.

Colby was fantastic, whoever is running Golden Isles needs to give her a raise! Great, friendly service that went above and beyond any FBO.
From Jim M. on 18-Jul-2016

Colby was great! We got weathered in after stopping for lunch and she assisted us in getting room and transportation.
From George Kretschmann on 16-May-2016

This is the 2nd time to fly into SSI. I can say for both times everyone was very professional and the ramp crews are very busy servicing both GA and Jet traffic. I mean literally "running" around getting things done. If your plane is moved it is not out of walking distance but I do like the car delivered to the plane. Fuel is reasonable and ramp fees are acceptable. I usually use the "Full" service for AV Gas since the self-serve is somewhat in the front of the FBO where all the action is. This is a favorite destination, as you will see when you arrive for the pattern. My wife and I will be back, George and Dawn

Had another nice stopover, line crew always helpful and friendly, this is a regular stop for me, the hotel is in walking distance. Aircraft fueled and ready to go when requested. I only have a two seater, with small gas tank, makes no difference, still get top shelf service.
From Art Jacob on 11-Jul-2015

Nice little airport gateway to a neat vacation spot. Easy flying, other than with 2 runways always in-use, fitting into the pattern was tricky, especially because ATC dropped us off high on a straight in to the larger runway. Golden Isles was friendly and cordial and you can't beat the fee - $0 - for our piston single for a day stopover. They did move the airplane to the distant line and as we walked out to depart, walked by two golf carts with line folks standing by them and talking (not offering a ride). Otherwise, good experience and we'll visit again.
From Louis Beecherl on 23-Jun-2015

Nice place, pretty good attention to detail. They offer a nice discount for using a Phillips 66 card, but Phillips 66 credit cards have unusually stringent security systems that typically block usage when you are out of your home area - which will preclude the ability to receive the discount.
