If you are looking for a place as destination in Southern Colorado you have to check this airport out. Great ground crew, newly sealed runway and beautiful scenery all around. But in many ways it is a museum, since the terminal used to have commercial traffic and the counters and soda fountain (although not working) is totally intact, it was an FSS at one time and manned weather station and all the old equipment is still there. If the ground crew is not busy as to see the old bomb shelter in the basement. It's a great place to land, kick the tires a bit and fun to fly out of in any direction.

We landed but no one was there until 8. No courtesy car my wife needed to rent car but no way into town: 10 mi. finally a crew going to town gave here a ride. Rental Car Company would not come and get her.

We were met by the local Airport Manager that also served as the Flight Service Manager. When we went in to the old air terminal facility at the airport we did not know quite what to expect as you go inside of one of these older facilities. We were amazed at what we saw when we first walked in, there is a old fashioned soda fountain with a ice cream bar straight out of the 1950's. It is unmanned and un-used but clean and cared for. In the office they still have the original panel and radios that were used back in the 1950's to include 5-band hand tunable transceiver. The manager stated that some of the equipment in the console and workstation dates back to the 1930's clean & well kept. The FBO portion will be changing over to strictly self serve (credit card reader) so they will be closing the FBO and the manager is retiring in a "few months". So if you want a very nostalgic place to stop for fuel Trinidad worth it just to have the chance to look through the FBO building.

The FBO served our needs and had real good fuel price. First time here in our Turbo Commander N900NE. Definitely would return. They do need a crew car however. Otherwise...All ok here.
