Stopped for fuel on a x-country. Found a large, beautiful facility and helpful people. Good fuel prices were a plus. Will gladly stop again!

Stopped here again second Saturday in a row, also on return from PA, for avgas. Good price. They just paid $3.15, and so to charge $3.85 is not bad at all. I like Tappahannock.

Stopped here on way to Greenville, NC from Pocono’s (N53) for fuel. Got in as it was dark, fuel pump said it was out of service and to call a number. I called a number and w/I 15 minutes, someone was there to take care of it and get the pump going, at 9:15 PM on a Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. Good price on fuel, no landing fees. I will stop again when flight path dictates and give some deviation again to land here. The attendee who came out to get the pump going, even drove his truck up and down the runway to make sure it was clear of deer. He is also a long-time pilot and CFI that said the only place he came close to hitting a deer was here.

A great fuel stop. Long runway, very light traffic, and it is easy to get self-service fuel. We arranged to spend the night at the Holiday Inn Express in town. The hotel was fine (uncrowded pool for the kids). Be forewarned, however, there is no taxi service and the hotels don't have shuttle vans. The airport manager was kind enough to give us a ride in his truck. Getting back to the airport required getting a ride from the hotel's maintenance guy, who borrowed a friend's car for the occasion. Needless to say, there are some very nice people at the airport and in town. When planning, be sure not to mistake XSA for the old airport. The charts clearly show the location of XSA, but on the satellite view of google maps, and in your view out of the window arriving from the north, the old airport (next to the river) is prominent.

Stopped in for fuel during cross-country last Saturday. Self-serve fuel functioned perfectly. FBO building is clean and modern. Very nice place.
