I visited Kauai on a one day stop over on a cruise ship last month. I am a private pilot and one of my friends had told me that he had visited the Islands and rented a plane (with CFI) for a sight seeing trip. Sounded like a good idea. I contacted Wings Over Kauai about a week before the cruise and reserved the plane. When in Kauai, I was picked up near the cruise ship port for the two-mile ride to the airport. The plane was a fairly recent model C172 in good condition. I flew left seat. Bruce, the CFI/owner sat in the right and did comm, since even if I knew where the reporting points were, I couldn't pronounce them. He also took the controls if I wanted to look instead of fly. My wife sat in the back seat and took pictures. Very pleasant 1.1 hour flight seeing pretty much the entire Island. I recommend renting from Wings Over Kauai to pilots as a way to see Kauai.
