Linda and Kasey were awesome! Called ahead of time and reserved hangar space and they were expecting us upon arrival. The customer service was fantastic, Linda went out of her way to help us. We needed to rent a car and they were very helpful when it came to finding and returning the car. Next time I return to the area I will fly into Auburn!

Stopped in for fuel today and was greeted by a wave from Kasey, the new manager. After fueling up, went to the airport office to wash up and met Kasey in person. I must say that Kasey was the friendliest dude I've met in a long time. He really made me feel welcome and I know that he would go out of his way to help out if I needed something special. I look forward to going back and stopping in to say Hi. I must say, this is how I remember airport people used to be!! And - Kasey's Golden Lab is adorable!

Perspective on mixed traffic W of S50: On a recent CFI-H training flight, while flying downwind below and inside the line used by ASEL traffic, we realized a taildragger would pass when we turned base and decelerated. After checking w/me, my CFI called on CTAF suggesting we extend downwind so the fw could land first. The fw pilot declined the offer. As I terminated to a hover, he was forced to go-around. Don't we talk on the radio to sort out situations where strict adherence to rules doesn't make sense? (We had right-of-way by virtue of being ahead and below the other traffic but offered to adjust our pattern giving him space, thus complying with the guidance to avoid the flow of fw traffic, while still allowing me to fly a standard traffic pattern for training value.) Mixing fw & rw traffic W of S50 is not unsafe if we work together. West traffic over highway, railroad, farms and Emerald Downs is safer and more neighborly than putting helicopters over Auburn. Respectfully.
