My wife and I have visited Ocracoke but had never stayed on the Island. Captains Landing suites are located directly on the water (only hotel that is DIRECTLY ON THE WATER). They have immaculately maintained two room suites beautifully furnished with great bedding and all have full kitchens and large balconies. Complimentary bikes. Aside from their standard duties, when we had mechanical problems with our small plane, they mobilized half the Island on a Sunday afternoon to help us out. The Island's plumber helped remove the battery from my plane and the local electrician figured out how to charge an aircraft battery with a golf cart, all under the watchful eye of the owner... A retired airline pilot w/25000 hours+. Note: The staff (not related) was sincerely helpful and appeared very loyal to the owners..... A very telling, if rare, trait. Needless to say, will give this establishment the highest rating possible to family, friends and business associates.

If the owner is somehow involved in decisions regarding the airport, he might want to investigate the Park Service's recent prohibition on aircraft remaining parked for more than 24 hours. That essentially means no pilot will be flying in for stays at any of the town's B&Bs or hotels. Frankly, it negates most of the reasons to come Ocracoke altogether. Seems an unwise decision for a community to make in this economy. Who wants to patronize a town that is so clearly hostile to the aviation community?Response from George Chamberlin, Owner, Captain's Landing As owner of Captain's landing, I would like to report that the information about 24 hour parking is incorrect. The US Park Service has a 14 day limit on parking as per their new regulations. Additionally, with new upgrades to the airport security and a pilot ops room, everyone at Ocracoke is encouraging pilot to fly in and enjoy the Island!

Owner is responsible as airport commissioner for the airport improvements including an a/c pilot lounge with computer, Internet and flight planning facilities. Thank him if you get chance when you fly in.
