Landed for fuel Oct 10, 2012. The system worked well with the exception of no receipt. Maybe I didn't do something correctly. Fuel priced as advertised on AirNav. It had been some time since I had previously stopped at Mandan and I like the changed door combination familiar to pilots instead of having to try to remember some random number. The lesser expensive fuel price is greatly appreciated.

Landed my Mooney in the dark on a normal, well lit Rwy. Self-serve gas. Slept on the couch, showered and left early. Perfect!

Great facility with best prices. I arrived at 9:30 pm. Nobody present (I didn't call ahead), but I was able to access bathroom, shower, and a snack for free or a donation. I will make this my cross-country refuel spot.

I have a Mooney based at Mandan-about as stiff as a landing gear gets. While not excellent, the runway is pretty average. Don't know where the comment about concrete patches showing came from. The runway is asphalt, 100%. The taxiway and apron were recently replaced.

Runway condition is listed in AirNav as being in good condition. This is the worst runway I have ever landed on. The cracks/holes in the concrete are wide and they are filled with some kind of tar mixture that does not fill the hole/crack completely. Or, some are overfilled. It is not, as listed covered with asphalt/aggregate mix. There are large patches of concrete visible. The ride on T/O or landing feels like you are on a poorly maintained and structured gravel runway. After takeoff, I landed at KBIS to check on a malfunction. My opinion of the Mandan runway was corroborated by several people. They said that the plan is to re-surface the Mandan runway next year. Land on the grass strip if you have to go there.Response from Jim Lawler, City of Mandan (FBO) I would like to respond to John Schroeder's comments on the runway condition at Mandan. The claim that the runway is concrete is not correct, it is asphalt with an aggregate surface and yes there are cracks that we have repaired recently, for ride reasons, that when the material is screed are 8" to 16" wide, that turned out very well. Not a user of the runway myself (I do inspect it) I have talked to other users, local and transient and its never been described as poor, most comments are good condition. Also none of any other comments on AirNav even mentioned the condition of the runway, if it is that bad I would hope someone would mention it. Comment " There are large patches of concrete visible", the only concrete in the operations area is in front of the fuel system new in 2007, all other areas are asphalt.

Great place, indeed! The fuel pump works great and the price is awesome. Tried to enter the building after taking care of all my planes' liquids to use the washroom but found myself confronted with a riddle pertaining to the combination lock at the door. It involves the emergency frequency but it is so complicated that you need a PhD in Mathematics or be a CIA trained cryptologist to figure it out. Well, I happen to have a PhD in science and still couldn't figure it out. No wonder that mushrooms grows around the building! Anyway, this just for the reader's entertainment! Love this place and always make a point in stopping there for fuel and a meal break.

We stopped late on Sunday heading to AirVenture, great lounge...Local pilot gave us a ride to dinner (the famous station wagon was in use by another Oshkosh bound pilot). Jim gave a recommendation for breakfast.... Great food, great fuel price. Thanks

Truly the best gas price around. Second time to Mandan and a good experience both trips. Blue thunder still alive and had a great brunch at Olfs cafe on a recommendation of fellow pilot based there. Would suggest re wording the entry code instructions to the FBO but with help of a local we were able to get in. Great place to fuel the plane and yourself.

Stopped at Mandan on our way to EAA Airventure and from because of fuel price as listed on AirNav. Mandan offers more than just excellent fuel price. The ramp office is clean, and well stocked with food items offered for free. Of course donations are welcomed and well deserved. We used the loaner car to make our way to town for a nights rest. Manager Jim was very helpful and we appreciated his recommendation on lodging.

Excellent fuel prices: $3.75 SS. Nice pilot lounge: Internet, TV, microwave, free water/coffee, soda machine, ... Classic station wagon crew car. Approximately 5 miles to downtown Mandan: plenty of restaurants, 24 hour Grocery and several hotels.

Nice place to stop, good computer access, nice folks, always great fuel prices. You haven't lived until you've driven Blue Thunder (70's vintage GM wagon with rear facing seat and roll up windows) into Ohm's cafe for a burger. And this is one of the few airports where you really have to keep your eye open for the combine traffic (what the . . .?!?) taxiing to the other end of the airport. We'll be back. :-)
