Overview

"North Vernon Municipal Airport has shown tremendous leadership in their community and is a shining example of the positive impact an airport can have on a community. North Vernon Municipal Airport has also been a tremendous asset in helping the community take full advantage of maximizing the Muscatatuck opportunity." said Bart Giesler, Executive Director of the Aviation Association of Indiana.

Situated right next to the City of North Vernon's 18 hole golf course, located just 3 miles northeast of the city,  the North Vernon Municipal Airport plays a vital role in transportation and economic development in Southeastern Indiana.

The airport can easily accommodate most business jets and turbo-props as well as some heavy military transports. North Vernon offers many attractive services that include a very active flight school which also provides aircraft acquisition assistance.

The airport is also home to two full service maintenance shops. The terminal facilities at the airport are very modern and offer amenities such as passenger lobby, conference rooms, high speed wireless access, and pilots’ lounge/flight planning.  We offer some light concierge service related to your arrival.  We work hard to ensure your visit is a memorable experience.

The airport has been an integral part of local economic development.  It is important to note that the North Vernon Municipal Airport is entirely self-sufficient as it receives no property tax money from the local community.

The airport accommodated the Indiana National Guard in the development of local training area Panther, a Contingency Operating Base, located on the airport.  This facility is used in support of the Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.

In the past 10 years the airport has made many upgrades to the infrastructure including new corporate hangars, upgraded sewers, taxiway and runway lighting improvements, improved instrument approaches, an update to a 30 year old airport layout plan, and a solar energy project.  In 2012 the airport has reconstructed runway 5-23 allowing the airport to sustain heavier aircraft on the runway.

The latest construction project is a large corporate hangar which has allowed larger aircraft to base as well as overnight at the airport.

We look forward to assist in your travel needs!
